How To Secure A Leaning Mirror To A Wall

Last week, I shared my new jewelry setup. I got rid of the mirrored jewelry cabinet and swapped it out for a sleek jewelry drawer instead. I love the new setup and I’m really excited because it gives me more space in our bedroom… space for a tilted mirror. Go home for a full look at your outfit from head to toe. You’ll recognize this mirror as the same one I used in my brother’s master bedroom design. Everyone has seen this mirror and I can see why. The glossy black color, the hint of brass, the size… all are absolutely perfect.But this is the best part. When Ryan and Sarah shipped the mirror from CB2, the company accidentally sent them two mirrors! After calling to tell the company, they said to keep it, not move it back. What a score! Since they clearly don’t need two identical mirrors in their home, I asked if I could have an extra one for our space. They happily let me have it. Yes, please!Finn & I placed the mirror on the wall in our bedroom closest to the master bathroom and we were instantly knocked out. The mirror faces a small window, a lot of light comes in from it and it illuminates the whole room. The only thing I don’t like about the mirror is that it’s on an aisle. The first few days, I was so scared that one of us would bump into it and it would fall to the ground. Although it is quite heavy and it will not slide on its own, I was very worried that it might fall.Read more: how to convert units in solidworks | Top Q & AA After a few days of being more conservative with our bedroom addition, I decided I needed to figure out a way to secure this tilt mirror to our wall.After doing a bit of research, I decided that the best way to secure a tilted mirror to a wall is to use the same furniture straps that you would use for child-proof furniture around your home. Often these straps are used on the back of furniture to secure heavy objects to the wall. That way, furniture won’t fall on the child if they try to climb up. I found these furniture straps on Amazon and after reading the good reviews I added them to my cart. Since I don’t want my mirror to slide… or fall from the top… I thought these straps would get the job done! You must use 2 straps for each item, then you fix one side to the wall and the other directly to the furniture. Screw one side of the strap directly into the wood. However, my mirror is metal and this is what the back looks like…It has 2 slots so you can mount the mirror to the wall with hardware, but since I like the “side view” I don’t want to fix the whole mirror to the wall. So I got creative with the straps. I removed the “wall” side of the hardware, so I’m left with only the “interior” hardware and the long white strap. I then pulled the strap over the back of the metal mirror. Since the plastic side is much larger than the metal opening, there shouldn’t be any plastic getting through it. I always try to secure items to studs when possible (this is where your stud finder comes in handy.) After finding 2 studs, I drilled the hardware directly into the wall. If you can’t find studs, the furniture strap set comes with load-bearing anchors. Always use anchors if you can’t find studs on your wall! This will ensure a tight connection.With the wall hardware in place, I took the 2 straps connected to the mirror and threaded them through the slots of the wall hardware. I did my best to get a nice tight connection, and then cut off the excess strap. My mirror is now firmly attached to the wall and I don’t have to worry about it falling off. While we don’t have kids or pets, it’s still nice to know that this mirror isn’t going anywhere. I can walk quickly without fear! Now the rest of my room feels so much more open! I like that I have room to the right of our closet and it’s not too cramped. I might end up putting a plant on the ground next to the vanity, but for now, I’m enjoying more space.Every little change I make in this space makes me love it even more. For now, I don’t have many major changes here. But you never know when the itch to change things will happen! Oh, and I forgot to tell you the best part. Since I only needed 2 furniture straps to secure our mirror, I was able to give Bridget the rest of them to her house. Now she can secure everything in time for the arrival of Baby Mac!
