An Incredible Hulk, also known as Green Eyed Monster, Shrock, or Hip and Hen is an eye-catching green cocktail usually made by mixing equal parts (2 fl oz each) fruit liqueur Hpnotiq and Hennessy brand cognac and served with Ice. Because of its color, it’s not surprising that it’s named after the green comic book superhero, Hulk. A connoisseur bartender at one of the restaurants in New York City blended Hpnotiq with Hennessy cognac to create a drink that is greener, less fruity, and more assertive in flavor. That drink was an instant hit with male alcoholics, who immediately stopped drinking whiskey, vodka, gin, cognac and rum, and switched to the Incredible Hulk… just kidding… no, they don’t … but, the new drink was attractive enough for the boys to start drinking it. Not even close! What a lie! Where is the beautiful color that I promised? I’ve tried making the Incredible Hulk in different ways, shaking two glasses with and without ice, stirring and only lightly pouring two glasses in turn, thinking it was my bad technique. responsible for color… nope, nada… really, man?… tech? That’s just another example of ‘don’t believe everything you see on the Internet’. What you will get is this brown as shown below…with some green tint if you squint a little…maybe. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t look bad, but it’s clearly not the bright green you’ll see on the Internet.I was able to get close to that bright green by mixing 2 parts Hpnotiq and one part Hennessy, as shown in the first picture of this post. Add a little Hpnotiq and the green is even brighter, but the drink becomes thinner and more fruity, and the color becomes less intense.

Incredible Hulk’s Drink Tasting Notes

As I mentioned above, the standard ratio for this drink is 1:1 (variant #1). But if you want a bright green, the ratio becomes 1:2, or even higher, (variant #2) Hennessy to Hpnotiq. Both taste great and will appeal to different palates.

Color

Nose

Variant #1 – complex, powerful aromas of Hennessy cognac, with subtle fruity tones.

Power

Variation #1 – medium strength, instantly felt the alcohol burning in the mouth. The wine will burn beautifully after swallowing. You’ll get a pleasant warm sensation from the alcohol in the back of your mouth and throat as you swallow it.

Sweet

Variant #1 – sweet, like Bailey, but doesn’t feel sweet due to alcohol content. Variation #2 – the sweetness is only slightly higher but much more pronounced due to the lower alcohol content. I find myself drinking it in a bar or just to relax after a long day. Variant #2 is super easy to drink, fruity and sweet and sour, a perfect party drink. Color will also be a major attraction here.
