How To Solve A Windmill Cube
Windmill Cube – Overview and Solution Guide Windmill cube is a 3×3 shape mod. The cube is a 3×3 cube, but cut diagonally on colored faces white and yellow, not horizontally like the rest of the cube. It’s what’s called a supermass, which means center rotation is what matters. So that means if one of the red, green, blue or orange centers (on the windmill block) is rotated 90° in either direction or 180°, that will not considered resolved. Also, the features that distinguish it from 3×3 are the faces with only six separate pieces, that is, the center, two edges above and below it, and the edge and two corners with respect to one of the center rows. The other pieces are there, but hidden. It is not an official WCA event, although some competitions may feature it as an unofficial event.Read: how to solve a windmill cube

The notation resembles a 3×3 cube. Since this is not an official event there is no claim to compete, but the general consensus is that you should compete for the white (or lightest) side above and the green face (or the lightest adjacent face to the white face) facing you .FRULBD
The basics to solve it
The solution method is your 3 × 3 method, remember that some angular permutations are hard to spot. I find PLL on windmill blocks very difficult. So if you use the 3×3 method for beginners, you will start with a white cross followed by white corners. Next you will insert the edges of the second layer, then create a yellow cross, permute the corners and orient them. If you use CFOP, then cross, F2L, OLL, PLL. If you use other methods, then just follow those steps. I wouldn’t recommend using any method where you have to recognize angular permutations a lot, like the Mehta method.
Supercube adaptations
Since it is a superblock, the central orientation is important, as I said above. Therefore, we need algorithms to twist the centers. There are two algorithms, below in the detailed tutorial, one of which rotates the center by 270° and the other that rotates the center by 180°.
Detailed explanation instructions
For this Tutorial, I will be using the 3×3 beginner method from this site. This is not the only method, as explained above, so feel free to use any other method. I’m just using this method so it can be understood by people in charge of all levels, as they will most likely know the method.
Pass
The first step is to create the cross, as shown in this image. This can be done by buttoning and flipping all the pieces into place or directly addressing them. I recommend addressing them directly.
First class
This step involves inserting all the corners to make the first layer complete. On the windmill cube, it is different from the 3×3 figure, as the corners are only white and a different color is visible on them. The remaining color is invisible, due to the way the cube is cut. To check that the corner has been inserted correctly, check that the color of the visible corner and the edge it matches are in a plane (ignoring the bump due to the badly oriented center) .
Second class
This step inserts the edges of the second layer. Again, it differs from 3 × 3, since the edges, like their respective corners, have only one color visible. Invisible colors are represented by strange shapes. They can be ‘standing up’, where the higher side is longer, or ‘down’, where the lower side is longer. If the longer side is high, then flip the U layer until it is above the matching color. If the longer side is on the low side, then flip the U layer until it is above the color to the other side of the slot. Then insert using the normal algorithm. Golden Cross
This step is the same as the step above 3 × 3.
Position the yellow edges
This step is the same for 3 × 3.
Position the yellow corners
Again, identical to 3 × 3. However, angle recognition is a bit more difficult since they only have one ‘visible’ color, but is still pretty easy if you have some experience dealing with shapes blocks, especially shape mods. When the edges are positioned in their proper place and the edge color matches the top face, the corner showing that color should be placed to the right of that edge if you use a white cross and to the left if you use yellow slash. .
Orient the yellow corners to complete the cube
This step is again the same as the step on the 3 × 3 cube; you just have to make sure while doing that that you don’t accidentally move one of the other sides.
Flip Supercube . Center Orientation

There are two algorithms and by combining them any of the 3 cases (actually 4, including the solved case) can be solved. The three cases are shown in the images below. The red figure shows one of the two cases of a 90° torsion and the blue figure shows the 180° torsion case. To solve or convert to blue case, red case or other center twisted 90°, you need to keep the white face to the right with the center that needs to be twisted on the U face, that means you will keep the cube diagonally and implement this algorithm:( RU ‘RURUR U’ R ‘U’ R2 ) 3or expand it as follows:RU ‘RURUR U’ R ‘U’ R2 RU ‘RURUR U’ R ‘U’ R2 RU ‘RURUR U’ R ‘U’ R2If you want to trim a few more seconds, you can do it likeRU ‘RURUR U’ R ‘U’ R ‘U’ RURUR U ‘R’ U ‘R’ U ‘RURUR U’ R ‘U’ R2For the blue case, there are two main algorithms, these are two permutations of T and a cycle that repeats the simple R and U motion. The two permutations of T areRU R ‘U’ R ‘F R2 U’ R ‘U’ RU R ‘F’ RU R ‘U’ R ‘F R2 U’ R ‘U’ RU R ‘F’ and RULES cycle is ( RU ‘R’ U’ ) 5I personally recommend RULES ride bicycle.Congratulations, you have solved the windmill cube!
