What is Tip-Up?

How to build a DIY tip

Things you need

• A few pieces of 1-2 inch wooden dowels or PVC pipes (thickness depends on how much fish you plan to catch)
• Two winged bolts
• An inexpensive plastic roll (no need for anything fancy)
• Extra strong zip ties (these will keep your reel at the top, so you don’t want the fish to run away from it)
• LIGHT screw
• Small allen key (mine is 4mm but it depends on the size of your doorstop)
• Fishing line
• Spring door (see picture below)
• Epoxy or Superglue
• Something to make a flag

Step 1: Build the base

The first thing you’ll want to do is build your frame by cutting your pegs to the appropriate topqa.info, which will end up being a total of three pieces with one part being your vertical piece sticking into the water.
