DIY Custom Phone Charms
Who here has noticed the crazy new trend of phone charms going around? Currently, all of them are available on TikTok and YouTube. However, I will warn you that, if you are not a crafter, it will cost you about 10 to 15 dollars to buy all the things to make them, which is not bad at all. You can buy a phone strap to make a phone strap for about that. If you buy a large bag of beads, it becomes a perfect craft to make for friends and family. This is also a craft that has many variations. I’ll give you step-by-step instructions on how my daughter and I create phone charms, but I’ll also add other ways you can do it as I go through all the steps. Either way, you can do it the way you want. It’s super simple, fun and addictive.

- Themes (various options)
- Scissors
- Super glue (optional)
- Lobster Clasp Cords (optional)
What type of chain works best
First you want to figure out what type of thread or stream to use. This can be complicated because if you go to a craft store and check out all the options available, it can be confusing and overwhelming. I’ll let you know what I did but you may find another yarn works better for you. I don’t want any stretch options because I don’t want my phone to stretch when worn on my wrist. I want the particles to stay in place and not move. My daughter is a worrier. So she left some room on herself so she could play with the beads. Again, do what’s best for you. One option we like for this is embroidery thread because it’s inexpensive and you can get it in a variety of colors. You just need to make sure that the thread you buy will fit the beads. Some beads have a very small opening, so be sure to keep that hole in mind while purchasing supplies. We also really like the break-resistant nylon cord.
What kind of seeds to use?
Next, you need to find some beads. There are a lot of seeds out there. Michaels and Joanns both have tons of beads to choose from. Find beads that match your style and match your phone case color. The center hole of the different beads. So make sure you choose the beads that are easy to string on the string you have chosen. If the beads are more important to you, choose those first and then choose a chain that is sure to work with your beads. Choose random particles or use a sample. I ended up creating several templates before choosing which one I liked best. I also put the beads in small bowls to keep the different colors separate while making the charm.
How to make a charm for your phone
Before I get started, I just want to remind you that you might find an easier way to do some of the steps. You do you! If you know that something has worked for you before, do it. I just let you know what works best for me after trying several different options.Step 1 – I like to cut a really long piece of thread or string, then I really need it so I have space to mess around and tie it at the end. Then I tape one side down to the table or counter you’re working on. This keeps the particles from falling apart or you dropping them and the particles flying all over the floor.Step 2 – Next, you want to start making your pattern, unless you’re not using a pattern, then just start stringing the beads until you get the length you want. This really depends on you. Some want it to look like a bracelet and keep it smaller. Others like to make it really long. Do whatever you want. This is your phone charm.Step 3 – There are two completely ways to this when you are done stringing beads. The first one is simple but it requires purchasing additional supplies. I bought some lobster clips from amazon. These make the whole dish look more professional. That’s it! I like to use some sort of clear glue or nail polish to stick on my button and hold it until undone.Option two for those who don’t want the extra cost. I measure my finished charm a little loose on my wrist. Next, I left about 7 inches of corn and then cut off the excess. Then you want to peel the tape up and push the beads into the center of the pad to make it have a cloth about 2-3 inches across BOTH ends of the bracelet. Tie a knot at the end.Read more: how to change a lightbulb in the harbor After tying the knot at the end you will notice a large amount of wear. Do not worried! Now we will take both sides of the knot and proceed to tie another knot but before pulling tight you want to push it towards your bead. Once it’s right on top of your bead, pull it tight. This creates an upward loop resembling a lobster claw. This is the part you will use to attach to your phone. My daughter and I had a great time making these. She did and put two different ones on her phone at the same time. She loves them And I must say that my husband loves me. At least 3 times now I have completely dropped my phone without the phone charm. I’m a klutz and he’s seen me catch my phone a few times by charm. He said, “Wow, you should have done it a year ago!”
How to put your charm on your phone
To attach the new DIY phone charm to the phone, you want to remove the case and then find the hole where the on and off button is. Thread the end of the talisman through the hole of the box. Then thread the end rope through the loop at the other end and pull until tight. Take a look at the photos below as they make more sense. won’t see it.
