DIY Homemade Hand Sanitizer
Hand hygiene is essential for staying healthy and leaves you free from infection along with preventing its recurrence. We generally touch most things which are filled with tons of bacteria and use sanitizers to clean the hands.
Most of us are using commercial hand sanitizers, which are filled with alcohol. Do you know that the usage of commercial hand sanitizers will affect the acid mantle of the skin?
The acid mantle is a fine, slightly acidic firm on the skin’s surface that generated by sebaceous glands to act as a barrier for protecting the skin from harmful bacteria, virus, and other germs. But the usage of chemical based sanitizers will harm this acid mantle and make germs to thrive easily into the skin.
FDA has raised some alarming concerns about the safety of using these commercial hand sanitizers. Here are some effects caused by using commercial sanitizers.
- Almost all sanitizers contain triclosan and triclocarban chemicals, which are harmful to the health.
Regular usage of hand cleansing products will make the bacteria or other microorganisms resistant to it and can easily thrive into the skin.
Triclosan will affect the immunity of a person in a longer run and thus makes you susceptible to numerous bacterial infections. It also increases the resistance to good bacteria, which are required for several bodily functions.
They lessen the effect of medicinal antimicrobials which we take to treat contagious bacteria like salmonella and E.coli.
Other chemicals like propylene glycol and isopropyl myristate will make the skin susceptible to absorbing countless environmental contaminants.
So, change your thoughts from the situations where a commercial hand sanitizer is the only way to clean your hands. You can also use a natural sanitizer that is free of harmful chemicals and can conquer the germs.
