Mimer Timer

It’s a cardholder. It keeps your 4 Guesstures cards, while you make words on them. It is also a timer, so act quickly! When the word on each card is correctly guessed, take the card before the Mimer-Timer swallows the card. Each card will fall on the timer. You only have a few seconds to read each word before its card is swallowed. Your team only gets points for the cards they guess and you get! Your team is also a scorer. Enter the group name on the Mimer-Timer with the label SCENE. Usage is provided.

Work

Scenes: Each team will perform in two rounds called Scenes. Play the blue deck in Scene 1 and the orange deck in Scene 2.

Scene 1

Decide which team will make the first leg. The first team chooses an Actor to go first. After the Cast from the first team finishes the Retention, an Actor from the second team will take their turn. Teams take turns taking turns. Each team member will become an Actor in each Scene. In your turn as an Actor, do the following:

1. Set up the Mimer . timer

Place the Mimer-Timer on a flat surface in front of you, such as a table. Guessing players can never see the words on the card while they are in the Mimer-Timer. Push the switch up on the device. Turn the knob clockwise until it moves (see Figure 1 for the position of the switch and knob). Make sure the Mimer-Timer is fully wound.

2. Draw and place your strings

Draw the first 4 green cards from the card box. Look at your cards and decide which word you want to express. You can choose any combination of 1 point and 3 point words (two from 1 point and two from 3 points, etc.). 3-point words are harder to act on and will consume more precious seconds! Now insert your 4 cards with the words you want to represent and face you. Guesstures Game RulesImportant: Use the Easy-Hard indicator when placing your card in the Timer. The card closest to “Easy” will be swallowed first! You should place the cards that you think you can help your teammates guess faster near the “Easier” side.

3. Close Mimer-timer

Close the Mimer-Timer hand, taking care to avoid pushing the card down. Now seconds will start ticking!

4. Start taking action

Do the words, starting from Easy to Hard. DO NOT skip any words. The rules for Guessturing are found in the HOW GUESSTURE box in the center column. Remember, the opposing team doesn’t guess. They only guess when their Actor is Guessturing. As soon as someone in your group shouts the right word, quickly grab its card from the Mimer-Timer. Then continue to Guessture the next card. If the Mimer-Timer swallows your card before your teammates guess the word (or before you can get it), quickly move on to the next word! Watch out for your cards to make sure a word after it is swallowed! Note: In most cases, the guessed form of each word is accepted. For example, guessing “ERUPTION1 for “ERUPT” works, but guessing “TRAP” for “MOUSETRAP” doesn’t work.

Just select the game units – they’ll be below! Then, return all 4 cards to the back of that colored card section in the card box. Now it’s time for the Actor of another team to come to Guessture! The new actor follows Steps 1 to 5. Change turns until all players have had a chance to act in Scene 1. If a team has one player less than the other, that team picks one.
