Soybean Oil Production
There are two methods soybean oil production, one is the mechanical way, is a traditional method of using a screw press to squeeze the oil out of the seeds and kernels; Another alternative is the chemical method of extracting oil with solvents. Both methods of oil production have advantages and disadvantages. The former is natural and healthy but the oil yield is much lower, however, the oil yield of the solvent extraction method is much higher. You can choose one according to your oil production capacity and needs, or you can use both together. To produce soybean oil, soybeans are flaked, adjusted to moisture, heated to 60 to 88 ºC (140-190 °F), rolled into flakes, and solvent extracted with hexane. The oil is then refined, blended for different applications, and sometimes hydrogenated.
Soybean oil production process
The commercial production of soybean oil is complex. Here are the main steps of soybean oil production process.Read: how to make soybean oil Read more: Bangers Bangers Bangers! How to Use a Banger and Heat a Banger of Different Styles (Instructions) Cleaning part of soybean oil production: The soybeans are first cleaned, dried and shelled before the oil is extracted. Soybean skins need to be removed because they absorb oil and give lower yields. This dehulling process is accomplished by breaking the soybeans and separating the hulls and cracked soybeans. Magnets are used to separate iron from soybeans. The soybeans are also heated to about 75°C to coagulate the soy proteins making it easier to extract the oil. Extracted fraction of soybean oil production: First, the soybeans are cut into pieces that are put into a chromogenic extractor and soaked with a solvent, usually hexane. The convection current is used as the extraction system because it gives the highest yield. After removing the hexane, the extracted flakes contain only about 1% soybean oil and are used as livestock meal or in the manufacture of food products such as soy protein. The hexane is separated from the soybean oil in the evaporator. The evaporated hexane is recovered and returned to the extraction process. The hexane-free crude soybean oil is then further refined.
