Neeko joins the battle as the newest addition to the League of Legends roster! She’s a cute little chameleon big and small rogue mage who’s fun to play and watch. After six dry months, we finally have a brand new champion, and I have to say, I don’t think we could ask for more. I’ve been playing Neeko non-stop on the Public Beta Environment for the past two weeks and tried all sorts of builds and roles. While she has some strong qualities that can allow her to succeed in the jungler or support role, I find that she performs best in mid. My mission today is to teach you everything you need to know about The Curious Chameleon!.

Passive – Inherent charmWhile in Combat, Neeko can choose to disguise herself as one of her allies. When disguised, she will appear as an exact copy of her chosen champion including base stats, level, current health, and resources. It was a mind trick that really messed up the opponent’s head. For example, you can disguise yourself as a jungler and present yourself in the top lane, which will make the enemy bot lane think they can play aggressively and don’t risk getting ganked. This can set up an easy gank from your jungler and make enemies wonder how they got to bot lane so quickly. You can also pretend to be a rogue marksman alone in a lane. Enemies can try to kill easily, but seal their own fate by joining you. The possibilities are endless and change depending on the state of the game. There are also a lot of really cool and interesting interactions and I’m sure there’s still a lot left unexplored.Q – Boom Explode
Neeko throws a seed at the target location. The seed expands and deals damage in AoE. If the seed hits an enemy champion, large monster, or kills a minion, it will re-spawn up to two times, which is your main poke and wave generator. Due to its surprisingly short cooldown, you should use this move as often as possible to poke enemies or push waves. You can also try to do both at the same time by hitting waves of minions while poking enemies. You’ll get at least two blooms on your opponent if you try to knock out your E (Tangle-Barbs) first, allowing for a massive amount of damage. a skirmish if you manage to take it down on multiple enemies. This can be easily done if the enemies are grouped and in some form of CC, like Tangle-Barbs, or Nami bubbles for example.W – Shaping Separator
Shapesplitter has a passive component and an active component. The former causes each third basic attack to deal bonus damage and increase movement speed for one second. The second makes you invisible, increases your movement speed, and sends a temporary copy of you in the chosen direction. The movement speed granted also increases with rank, allowing you to slip even more. It’s also important to note that the proc is every third auto attack, not every third attack on a specific champion or monster (like Gnar’s W). This means you can, for example, attack lane minions twice and continue using a third attack on enemy champions. This will create a clone of your chosen ally, allowing for more silly comedic situations and will confuse your opponent as to who you are.E – Tangle-Prong
Neeko unleashes a magical spiral in a straight line, severing the roots of anything it comes into contact with. The last champion hit will last longer. If the spiral passes through two enemies, it will grow in size and speed, and the duration of the last champion hit is increased. This will be your main catcher. The last champion hit’s buffed base length is super long, similar to Morgana’s Dark Binding, which means you’ll have plenty of time to deal damage to your opponents. it goes through and there is no limit on the number of units it can hit. You should find a way to toss Tangle-Barbs through a wave of minions because hitting at least two minions will strengthen the spiral and will hold enemies longer. The only way for enemies to be safe from the Neeko root is to stay out of its range, which is impractical most of the time, especially during the laning phase. Throwing Tangle-Barbs through minions when your opponent tries to farm will allow you to easily capture them and set up a gank, or simply allow you to get a few pokes.R – Poppies

After a short delay, Neeko leaps into the air, slowing enemies in the area and gaining a shield that grows in size based on the number of enemies in the area. Upon landing, Neeko unleashes spiritual energy, dealing massive amounts of damage to all enemies in the stun area for 1.25 seconds. . It has extremely high base damage and scales with 130% of your AP, making it possibly the strongest AoE ultimate in the game. It’s like a mix between full AP Nunu and Amumu’s ultimate. And I haven’t even mentioned the coolest thing about this ability – if used while camouflaged with an Innate Ability, the massive AoE around Neeko won’t be visible to the opposing team until you jumped into the air, and at that point, It was probably too late to run. Putting an enhanced Tangle-Barb on Pop Blossom will immobilize someone for quite some time, making Neeko an extremely powerful utility champion that can also deal tons of damage. .Maximum order of skills – Q > E > WI find that prioritizing Q entry is the best as it’s your main wave, poke, and damage tool. This is a no-brainer as you’ll need it to really perform well as a mid laner and prevent yourself from getting pushed into the tower all game. Maxing E besides extending your root time is pretty important as that little bit of extra CC will be crucial to your success in a skirmish. W pulls out the short straw on this one and should take precedence last. The gain from the W entry points, while they’re still really good, shouldn’t outweigh the benefit from either of the other two spells, and should therefore be left to last.
Runes
Dark Harvest is too good right now not to take, it’s just a better Electrocute in almost every situation. Sudden impact for additional magic damage after spawning from stealth, Eyeball Collection for free AP and Fierce Hunter for more survivability and healing. As my sub-tree, I found the Magic Tree with Manaflow Band and Transcendent quite strong. I doubled adaptive force for 20 extra AP right at level one, and swapped my defense options depending on the enemy team.
Build orders

I find this build strong against Neeko as well, but I think it’s better used when playing support. Neeko is an extremely interesting ruse mage who can become very annoying towards your opponents. If you enjoy watching others down, then Neeko is definitely the champ for you.
