Get rid of the sewing machine and break the glue gun guys! Today we are going to make a fabric headband without seams! I also show you how I crafted my tiara into a Jasmine-inspired tiara. Here’s what you’ll need: * 1 inch plastic headband (I used an old headband. I just cut out the material!) * 13.5 inch trim or ribbon * Rags – a quarter of fat is enough. * Glue gun and glue sticks * Double-sided tape (optional) * Decoration: resin or turpentine jewelry, bows, flowers, etc. (I used a discount pendant from the jewelry set. at my local retailer!) Read: how to wrap one. First things first, we’re going to make a pattern. Don’t worry, it will only take a second! ???? Grab a piece of paper, Sharpie, scissors and your headband. Mark the center of your headband. I put a small mark on each side of the headband.
Place your headband on your paper. We will trace about 1/2 of the headband from the middle to the end, back to the center. Do this by “shake the headband so you can trace the edges.
Your center markers will become fold lines, so draw a line, connecting the two center points. This is what your template should look like. PS- Mine was a bit messy because I had a very “helpful” 2 year old bump into my arm while I was tracing.
Next, we need to add the seam allowance. Mark 1/2 around the long and curved sides. You don’t need to allow seam along the short, straight edge. **If you are using a larger headband (eg 1.5″ or 2″), you will need to add a larger seam capacity. **
Cut out your pattern, fold your fabric in half in the bias direction. Place your pattern piece on the fold. You will need to cut a headband in the fold.
TIP: Add double-sided tape to the inside of the headband! I’ll still be using hot glue for the next few steps, but the tape will help once we start folding the fabric in! Put the wrong side of your fabric on. Mark the center of your headband. You can also make creases with your iron! Place the right headband down, center aligning to the fabric.

Put some glue in the center, inside the headband. Fold the fabric right in the center! Place a dot of glue at the end of the headband. Fold the end up front.
Run a line of glue from the center to the end, along one edge of the headband. Fold the fabric along that side.
Run a line of glue along the other edge of the headband, over the top of the fabric. Fold the fabric along that edge.
Repeat on the other half of the headband. Remember to gently pull the fabric, taking advantage of the deflection. You want plain fabric on the outside of the headband! It’s okay if the inside looks like a hot mess because 1) we’ll cover it with borders or ribbon 2) no one will see it anyway :).
Use a lighter or small flame to warm up the end of your decoration or ribbon! You can also tuck the raw end of the trim or ribbon underneath.
Starting at one end, run a line of glue down the middle, inside the headband. Press the cut or ribbon down at the end. Continue gluing and pressing down on the trim until you reach the other end. Read more: how to get rid of cockroaches from electronics
If you don’t add embellishments, guess what?! You are done! Super easy, right?! If you want to add jewelry, bows, flowers, decorations, etc., go ahead and complete your headband!
I found this wonderful pendant a few weeks ago at the jewelry department. I saw it and immediately thought it looked like Jasmine’s jewel in her crown. I just broke the “y-th” attached to the necklace. That’s technical, right?
Place a large lump of glue where you want the embellishment. Since I’m making a jasmine-inspired tiara, my glue will be in focus!
Press and hold the trim in place for a minute or two until it’s secure, and ta-dah!!! Beautiful, handmade Jasmine tiara.
Now you can make a fabric headband to match all your outfits and outfits! I hope your little princess likes her new headband/crown as much as mine!
