How did it start?

For me, vinyl wrap started when we bought our first cargo van, a Mercedes-Benz Viano. I stood looking back at it and decided that dark gray wasn’t the visual impact we were looking for. So I was looking for a slick job or a professional upholstery, but after falling off my chair in shock at the cost… I decided to wrap vinyl… well, not that hard… right? This is when YouTube launched the element, hours later I’ve watched a bunch of videos and read countless articles, and I vaguely feel ready. I have committed, ordered the wrap and eagerly await its arrival. Having accepted the challenge there’s no way I’m giving up, and yes, vinyl wrap requires some skill and a lot of time and patience. However, it can be easily achieved as a work from home. I started with a matte black van and 4 years later changed it to a matte metallic blue [I fancied a change]. That’s when I stood looking at my leftovers and looking up at my Harley-Davidson Street Bob…it’s happening! The bike is definitely harder than the van due to the tank’s lines, but it couldn’t be as bad as I most recently did a matte metallic red job on the Forty-Eight as well. it went, and i hope belowVinyl wraps a matte metallic blue Harley-Davidson motorcyclehelps give you all the information you need to successfully wrap your bike or car! Advantages of the package

  • It’s a completely reversible process, so if you get bored you can just pull it out and start over or go back to the original color.
  • If it’s damaged, just redo it [although the wrap will last for years if you want it to]
  • Acts as a protective layer, keeping your paint in perfect condition underneath
  • If you scratch a panel, you can literally just rewind it, much cheaper than a paint job.
  • Offers cost-effective customization options for textures, colors, and materials that would normally be very expensive
  • At a glance, you can’t tell what finish it has and what the finish is
  • Wrap delivers premium paint quality at a low cost

Cons of the package

  • Not much…
  • It takes time and patience
  • If not done well, it can bubble and wrinkle
  • You need to notify your insurance that the car color has changed but it’s a quick phone call
  • 3M . vinyl wrap [don’t buy a cheaper alternative]
  • Primer 3M [for complex areas]
  • Lint-free fabric
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • Felt cushion [or soft flat edged item roughly credit card sized]
  • Stanley blade
  • Heat gun or suitable hair dryer
  • Big photo frames [for wrapping tanks]The tools you need to wrap vinyl on the body of a motorcycle

Why only 3M? In my experience, 3M is the leader in high-performance film. As a product developed with 3M’s vast experience, it is truly like the Ferrari of armored cars. No other products come close.

  • It’s ready to use right out of the box like a self-adhesive vinyl
  • It handles easily, with the perfect balance between flex and stiffness
  • It’s semi-permeable allowing air to escape, preventing and eliminating bubbles
  • It is a pressure-activated adhesive that allows you to glue and reposition until you have the perfect finish.

Yes, there are cheaper competing brands out there, but in the end packaging is a tough game, so why make it harder with inferior materials. Buy the best and make your life easier! Easy to complete

Honest answer. It’s hard. It takes patience and a steady hand. But! It can be achieved without having to be a professional. The pros will tell you it’s not a work from home job, but I prove it can happen!

Crowd reaction

Supper! The bragging right to be able to say you’ve wrapped it yourself is great. If you choose the right color, the light will pop out like there’s no paint and draw attention. The vinyl package and the ability to simply change colors when you fancy mean you can fool everyone with your new ride [which is simply a new wrap]Read more: how to scroll through photos on windows 10 People are really blown away by the wrap finish.

$$$$

For a motorcycle like Sportster or DYNA if you buy 3 meter x 1.5 meter you will get more than enough [just in case you have to restart a piece]. The wine will be a little quid, along with a piece of foam. Since you are doing it yourself, it is a work of love that costs nothing other than time. I estimate vinyl wrap for your bike to cost around £120/€150/$170 I recommend food wrap. It’s a great quick service and the cheapest sources of original 3m vinyl wrap.

    Advice from Experience

    • With a friend’s help, 4 hands is a lot easier than 2 hands
    • Start with an easier item with the least amount of contours, let the tank last!
    • Avoid wrapping in cold weather
    • Leave plenty of time – don’t try and do it in a hurry
    • Don’t start if you’re tired; you need patience and energy
    • There are some snacks and a tea/coffee maker nearby to keep you energized
    • If the heat gun burns your finger, it will burn the wrap
    • Be prepared to write down some wrapping and start over if it goes wrong

    Overall rating
