I get the exact same question every time I share a behind-the-scenes video of the baking in my Instagram story: how the hell do you stack the parchment baking pan so neatly?! The short answer is through quite a bit of trial and error and years of baking experience. You may already know that the seemingly easy process of putting parchment in a baking pan is less complicated than it is to do, especially in the case of the parchment still rolled up on the person. Plus, do a quick web search with thousands of tutorials on thousands of other ways to stack your pans. Guess what: I’ve tried them all so you don’t have to! And in doing so, I’ve found trick-proof strategies for lining baking pans of all shapes and sizes. for the right way to line a pan with parchment! Cardboard is paper coated with silicone to provide a non-stick, food-safe, and additional heat-resistant floor*. It’s a baker’s kitchen staple and is utilized by many, along with lining baking pans and stacking baking pans so they don’t stick together. Cardboard paper helps promote even baking, reduces spreading (good when baking thick cookies), and keeps desserts from sticking to the pan. (slightly more on a roll). It’s the right size for lining half-sheet pans and 9-by-13-inch pans, and it can be simply trimmed to use with smaller pans. And there’s nothing more annoying than parchment that keeps rolling on you when you try to line a pan, so keeping it flat will make your life a whole lot simpler. Paper or aluminum foil can be used in place of parchment, however they are usually not a complete substitute for parchment. Waxed paper is coated with paraffin wax, so it is not resistant to heat and should not be used to line pans that can go into the oven. Aluminum foil lacks the nonstick coating of parchment, so it won’t help your desserts simply be as far apart from their pans as parchment. your paper packaging, as this will vary.

Do I have to grease the parchment?

No! Parchment is already non-stick, so there’s usually no need to grease your parchment. And if you’re baking cookies, greased with parchment will likely cause your cookies to spread and turn greasy, so actively skip the grease. How to Line a Baking Sheet with Parchment

The baking sheet is the best pan to line with parchment, so this should be easy!

  • For those of you who are using 12-inch x 16-inch sheets of parchment to line half of the baking paper, your parchment is already sized in your pan and all you probably want to do is place paper on the pan.
  • For smaller baking pans, simply cut the parchment into a rectangle that matches the underside of the inside of the pan.

How to line a spherical cake pan with parchment

This technique works for any size cake pan and can help ensure that your cake blocks don’t stick back in the pan after you flip the cake onto the cooking rack. Note: You’ll want to grease the insides and edges of the cake pan anyway to make sure your cake doesn’t stick to the perimeters of the pan, for that reason the parchment will just stick to the underside of the pan.

  • Place a bit of parchment underneath your cake pan and use a pencil to suggest the image at the highest level of the bottom edge of the pan onto the parchment.
  • Use a pair of transparent scissors to cut a simple circle inside the shape you drew (to match the thickness of the pan, since you’ve outlined the outside edge and the paper will be on the inside of the pan).
  • Place the circle of paper on the underside of the pan.

    How To Line a Sq. Parchment baking pan

    Read more: How long to bake a sweet potato at 375 This technique will work with any size square pan, along with the popular 8 inch x 8 inch and 9 inch x pan sizes. 9 inches. I have seen many strategies for lining square pans, however this technique is my favorite. A common technique is to cut two strips of paper, each the width of the pan, and place them inside the pan at right angles to each other, however this technique does not shrink the corners of the pan and also uses extra paper, because since you’re covering the underside of the pan twice. The various strategies seem to require complex origami. This technique keeps it easy and eco-friendly.

  • Place a bit of parchment underneath your pan. Raise the perimeters of the paper to make sure they reach all the perimeters of the pan, and use a pair of scissors to trim away the excess.
  • Using scissors, shrink the paper from every nook and cranny in the direction of every nook and cranny of the pan. Remove the pan from the top of the paper and add another ½ inch to each of the 4 existing cuts (this gives you more room when shaping the corners).
  • Place the sheet of paper in the tray and fold one of the opposite rear flaps in each of the 4 corners so that the paper fits in the tray.
  • Using your fingers, fold the paper along the 4 horizontal sides of the pan. Then fold the paper along the 4 vertical edges so that the paper completely fits all the corners of the pan. (The perimeters of the paper cannot be level with your pan, but they do need to be covered (see image above.) When you pour the batter or dough into the pan, the parchment will be facing the pan.)

    How to Line a Rectangular Baking Pan with Parchment

    This technique will work with any sized rectangular pan, reminiscent of a 9 inch x 13 pan, and it’s the same technique I outlined above for lining a square baking pan.

  • Place a bit of parchment underneath your pan. Raise the perimeters of the paper to make sure they reach all the perimeters of the pan, and use a pair of scissors to trim away the excess. (For those of you who are using a 12-inch x 16-inch sheet of parchment to line a 9 x 13-inch tray, you definitely shouldn’t cut your paper.)
  • Using scissors, shrink the paper from every nook and cranny in the direction of every nook and cranny of the pan. Remove the pan from the top of the paper and add another ½ inch to each of the 4 existing cuts (this gives you more room when shaping the corners).
