Step 5: Remove Ferret from Time-out. After the 3 minutes are up, gently remove your ferret from their timeout box. For very aggressive ferrets, you can use gloves to protect your hands. Try to make sure you are calm when picking them up.
Place the ferret on your forearm (as in the photo above) with their head away from your body (so they can’t easily bite you). Use this as an opportunity to calm your ferret and use a gentle voice to praise your ferret for being calm. You can do this for about 10 seconds, then gently put your ferret down.

In fact, if your ferret begins to gently nibble and eat you without pressure during bite training – reward that behavior by simply not using the bite method. They are testing and learning the limits you have set! If your ferret bites, we encourage you to empathize with your young ferret and try to understand why they are doing it. Are they scared?
