Set up your iron and let it start to heat up while you prep the batteries. First things first. Cut only one wire at a time as this is important to keep the battery terminals from touching each other and causing arcing. This can be a dangerous situation if you cut both wires at the same time. As you can see here, I’ve cut the black wire (the negative) and have cut another quarter inch of the sheath back so we can go ahead and tin the wire and prepare to solder to the connector.
