How To Make Table Mats At Home!

This time for your home decor, we’ve come up with an idea that will change your dining experience! Let me show you how to make a tablecloth with Batik. So batik is usually done by placing hot wax on the fabric and dyeing the fabric. Wherever wax is placed, the dye will not stick to the fabric. Create the effect raw and ready to look stunning. Needless to say, it’s a bit more complicated. So we wanted to share a simpler technique through which you can achieve the same effect. But instead, on paper. It’s so much fun when the kids do it (my kids’ cousin helped me make these tablecloths and we had a blast!). Now, it’s helpful to try one technique and another to make it work. Thick white paper (A3 size)
Thick colored paper
Types of tempera paints
Black acrylic paint
Black ink
Tissue / tissue / newspaper
Brushes, pencils
Sponges

Steps:

Draw the design on A3 sized sheets of paper. An easy way is to make a stencil and trace it on the carpet. This will allow you to create the same design on all sections. Try to keep the design as simple and as large as possible, for maximum possible effect.

Apply a double coat of the paint shown in the figure and let dry completely.

3. Using a sponge, apply ONE layer of black ink onto the paper, without overlapping brush strokes. You can only place it on the design or on the entire sheet.4. Let it dry for about 30 minutes. And then use a damp cloth to wipe away the black ink stain. Do not press too hard, or the paper will tear and the ink will be completely erased.5. Let the paper dry. Paint the gaps with black paint.6. Cut thick sheets of colored paper to stick to the back of the mats. This will make them stiffer in the long run. And finishing for the rugs. Why? Because the ink is usually glossy like this on the back. We repeated the steps a few times to create a complete set of table mats, with a more elaborate version of the same design for the hubs.Optional: Cover the panels with plastic to maintain them for a longer period of time. Keep in mind:

Make sure the paint used for the design is free of water. In fact, if it can be painted without any water, it works better.

Don’t put a lot of water on your cloth/tissue. Otherwise, it will seep through the paper and damage it.

Keep the design as basic as possible.
