How To Make Suspenders At Home
I don’t know about you, but I think lanyards are one of the cutest accessories for a child.

Material
- 1 inch wide spandex, about 1-2 yards
- two slides
- four pieces of rope
- suitable topic
- sewing needles, preferably jersey knitting needles
- optional: fray test
Material Notes:
– Elastic – Be sure to use woven elastic. Folded elastic is too flimsy. Jo-Ann has a lot of unique colors. I found my gold and striped elastics in an Etsy store called Strap Crafts.– You can find hangers and sling clips at Jo-Ann. For this tutorial, I used recycled clips from glove clips that I found clearing at Walmart for less than $1 – You can use a regular sewing needle, but what if If you have a shirt knitting needle on hand, you’ll likely end up with cleaner stitches and fewer missed stitches, since elastic is a stretchy material. – Doesn’t need to be checked for tear, but will give the sling cleaner a cleaner look because it seals the raw edges of the elastic. Alternatively, you may decide to finish the raw edges with a zig zag stitch. GuideStep 1: Measure your recipient from waist to waist first, use that measurement and then add about 8-10 inches so your sling can be adjusted. If you cut them 18-24 inches long will fit most kids. Cut two pieces of elastic.
Step 2: Insert one raw end into the sling slider, fold it about 3/4 inch and sew in place. Make sure to reverse stitch at the start and stop of each stitch. Repeat for both elastics. Finish rough edges with Fray Check.Read more: How to background miniatures | Top Q&A
Step 3: Only clip the sling to the elastic from the other raw end, almost all the way to the top of the slide. Leave a few inches between the clip and the slide so you can thread the raw end through the slide.
Step 4: Now that the front of the straps is in place, let’s finish the back of the straps. Read the second clip onto the remaining raw end, fold the end over and sew in place. Rough edge finishing with the Fray Test.
Make sure that both clamps are facing the same direction. 
Repeat for both straps. 
Step 5: Sew the straps together. With both right sides of the straps facing up, cross them at the back. Measure your receiver about 1/2-3/4 of the way up the back and use that measurement to determine the crossing position of the straps.

If you can’t tell, she loves the ones with stripes the most. She couldn’t stop dancing in them. She even beats some Napoleon Dynamite-like moves. Ha! She broke me.
