How to make pennyroyal tea

As autumn drew to a close, I tried to gather every little thing I could sooner than the frost killed it. I would miss the freedom to go out simply earlier than dinner and gather contemporary herbs for tea making and cooking. I used to be so stoked with parsley and basil that I almost forgot it was one of my favorite herbs until last night.

It has been found that women have overdosed on pennyroyal to help end their pregnancies. So in the early nineteen and ninety-seven, two geniuses were determined to drink the vital oil to accomplish that end. Let me say this – pennyroyal’s vital oil is NOT the same as using the whole plant in one recipe. The women who drank the vital oil of pennyroyal died.

After we decided that pennyroyal’s vital oil was harmful (as little as 2 teaspoons could cause a seizure), we pointed to the plant and thought, “Oh no! There is a dangerous essential oil inside that plant. That means the plant is very dangerous to consume.” Sure, vital oil may be one of the plant’s building blocks, but that doesn’t mean the plant can be deadly. There is arsenic in apple seeds however we do not declare apples to be lethal. It can take up to 75 gallons of pennyroyal tea to produce the essential oil needed to kill someone, while it can be as simple as getting the same dose by drinking a small bottle from your favorite oil supplier.
