If you’ve ever been to a craft fair, you’ve probably seen Dish Towel Angels in a corner booth. Or maybe you were given one as a gift to yourself? This step-by-step picture tutorial will show you how you can make your own dish towel angel to give as a gift to someone else. You can get creative with your angel by using different scarves, fabrics and ribbons to make it the perfect personalized gift for your friends and family.– Get an extra set of towels and make a matching dish towel apron.
How to make a dish angel
What you need:
- 1 dish
- 1 cleaning cloth
- 1 pot holder
- Ribbon
Here’s a picture of what you’ll need to make this project, potholes, dish towels, dish towels, some ribbon, and a pair of scissors. I bought everything I needed at the local dollar store for $3 and I had some shredded ribbon on hand. Then, double the dish towel.
Next, you do the same with the scarf, folding it in an accordion style. Do not double as you did the dish towel. Set aside.
You will now tightly roll the center of the pot holder together.
Use the ribbon to tie the folded scarf to the cut pot holder to create angel wings. Make sure to leave plenty of tails on top of your ribbon for the next step.
Place the folded dish towel in the center of the angel wings and tie the ends of the ribbon (from the ribbon you used to tie the dish towel to the pot holder) and tie it down about 2 inches from the folded center of the towel. This makes the “head” of the angel. You won’t be adding anything to the ribbon here, so you can tie the bow and trim off any extra ends.
To finish, bring the “arms” (dish towels) around the front of the angel and tie them together with another ribbon about an inch from the top of the towel. Tie the bow and trim the tail. That’s it, your kitchen towel angel is done!
