How To Make A Table Runner With Pointed Ends

This year, I became a fan of table runners and changed them up for seasons and holidays. It started with just a piece of extra fabric that I put underneath my clear plastic tablecloth to my liking. But I love it, I’ve gone red for Christmas and Valentine’s Day. It has no border and I tucked it under the cropped part so it looks like a rectangle.Then, at Easter, I pulled out a waiter my mother made for me. Like all of her needlework – it was beautifully done and inspired me to be a true table runner. And to get more out of it, I made it reversible! They can coordinate or conflict. You won’t really see them together. (You can adjust the length of the fabric to fit a longer or shorter table or personal preference.)Start by cutting each piece of fabric to the length of the fabric (parallel to the selected fabric) 15 inches wide.Read more: how to tame zombies in minecraft Pin the two right lengths of fabric together and sew along the two long edges. Leave one of the sides open for convenience. DO NOT sew short edges.Open the short end of the treadmill and fold the pieces of fabric together. Match the seams from the long sides of the runner and pin the edges of the short side together. The right sides of the sheets will fit snugly together.Turn the runner’s right side out through the hole on the long side. Bring your hand inside of the runner and gently poke out the corners you created by sewing the short edges. This forms a neat little triangle on each end of the table runner.Press the side seams and triangles to make the countertop nice and sharp.Sew the hole you used to turn the runner right side out. I used a ladder stitch (blind stitch) so you can’t tell when my hole is. Alternatively, you can use your machine to sew closures. If you choose that method, I recommend sewing all the way around the runner for a nicer finish.Press it one last time and lay it out on your table. When you get tired of that side, push the points of the triangle through so that the opposite fabric rests on top of the table runner.Feel free to change up your table decor without having to store anything extra! And here’s a tip if you have small kids like me, kids are strewn all over the table. Cover your desk and table runners with clear/vinyl tablecloths.
