I asked my followers if they wanted a tutorial and of course they said YEESS, so here’s my version of the popular mesh snowman wreath including tips you might not have. think about! When you first get your wreath, it will be flat and you need to flatten the wreath and remember to pull the twisted ropes up, out and away from the base. Turn the wreath upside down and make sure there aren’t any sharp edges, if any push them forward.Using part of the garland to work, we will form a cross in the center of the wreath. Trim the twist at the end to reveal a long piece of string. Use the straight edge of the wreath wire to thread the wire around the working wreath frame. Pull the wreath to the other side, cut off the excess and secure it around the wreath frame. We are creating a base in the center of the wreath so that we can attach the decorative grid to the center. include one in the center because we already have one. Use the center twist tie to secure where the garland pieces cross. Note: If this wreath is not available, you can use flower wire, a double pipe cleaner, or use a zip tie, just make sure it is white. Step 2 – Add Deco MeshStack two 10” deco mesh rolls on top of each other to speed up the cutting process. Roll the mesh out and use an anchor to hold it in place (my stapler). Use a rotary cutter to cut strips 10″ long. Set the strips aside and continue cutting until all the grids are used from both rolls. You will need a third grid roll to fill in the gaps, I used about ¼ of this roll. Attach the decorative mesh using the “ruffle technique” and clip it between each piece. Do this for three pieces of mesh and secure these three pieces under one of the twisted ties. I started in the outer ring but you can start anywhere. Continue attaching the three decorative mesh pieces to each twine on the garland and crossbar until filled. Use more decorative grid pieces to fill in the blanks. Since you don’t have a twist tie, use a half-pipe cleaner to attach the wreath. You can use 3 pieces of mesh for larger holes and one or two pieces for smaller holes. There will be holes where you made the cross piece in the center. To solve that problem, move the pipe cleaner towards the end of the mesh pieces before securing it to the wreath. This long mesh will fill the hole.Make sure all nets are facing up and not trapped under twisted ties.Step 3 – Make the nose Cut the stem of the chenille 1″ long by 24″. Wrap it around the cardboard center of a decorative mesh roll to help with the roll. Remove it from the cardboard and use your hands to make the top tighter and the base wider, forming a carrot shape. Leave a 3” tail at the end to wrap around the center of the wreath form. The length of my ribbon is a little over an inch but measure what fits your hat. Tie a knot on the front of the hat and set it aside. To make the bow, pull some ribbon off the roll to make it easier to work with. Form a small loop and clip and gather around the back. This creates a pleated knot on the front that will be the center of the bow. twisted part in your finger. Pull the ribbon out and back down to form a loop. Measure around 3” (if your hat is smaller, use smaller loops). Twist the ribbon again to always keep the good side of the ribbon at the top. Now make a 3” loop on the other side of the center loop and twist the ribbon. You should now have what looks like a bow. Continue making 3” loops until you have a total of six, 3 on each side of the center. Create a longer loop of wire, which will be the bow tail when cut in half. Twist the ribbon again, then cut the ribbon off the roll leaving a 5-inch tail. Use a flower string or tube cleaner to thread it through the center hole and around the back. While holding the ribbon and string firmly in one hand, use the other hand to fluff and move the loops of wire to shape and position. Whenever you like, turn your hands upside down and twist the bow so that the string wraps tightly around the loops. To attach the bow to the hat, thread the string under the knot and twist it. Shorten the wire and push the excess in. Shorten the tail on the waistband and bow.Step 5 – Add Eyes & Nose You may want to make your wreath stand first, or you can do this later, depending on your preference. I added it now so I can hang the wreath to work with it. Use a chenille stem to make a wreath hanger Before adding the hanger, make sure that one of the twisted ropes is in the upper left side of the wreath where you want to position the hat. Attach the carrot tip to the center of the wreath by pushing the tip through the mesh to the back. Turn the wreath upside down and wrap the end of the nose around the cross-shaped string on the back of the wreath. Use the center twist ties on the front of the wreath and thread them up the center of the carrot to help support its weight. Step 6 – Attach the hat Use a 21” mesh and gather it in the center, unscrew the twisted ropes where the hat will go and attach the mesh strip. This extra mesh will help support the weight of the hat. Place the hat on the garland to measure where you need more wire. Remove the hat and use an awl or awl to pierce the fabric on the hat to make two side holes under the lanyard; Waist plate will help hide the rope. Thread the black pipe cleaner into the holes, do this on the other side of the hat, making the two holes and the conduit cleaner. Sometimes threading the fabric is difficult and requires patience but you will succeed. Do the same with the back of the hat with two holes and the pipe cleaner. Attach a fourth wire to the brim of the hole-punch hat and the cleaning conduit. This will be used to secure the brim as we fold it down the back of the wreath. Place the hat on top of the wreath, pushing the extra 21” mesh underneath the hat. Screw the cleaning hoses on the side of the hat to the wreath frame. Don’t force them all the way down at first, just enough to keep them in place. Once they are wired, then wire the pipe cleaner to the back of the hat.Once you like the placement of things, turn the wreath upside down and tighten those three pipe cleaners. Fold the brim of the hat so that the wreath lies flat when hanging on the door. Use the tube cleaner attached to the rim to screw into the inner ring of the wreath frame and tighten.Shorten all pipe cleaning tools. As you will see in the video below, I noticed that the hat was still soft, so I attached another rope to anchor it in the front by doing the same process making two holes and threading the cleaning hose. tube and wire it to the back of the wreath frame. Step 7 – Backup Use the cake circle as a template and draw a circle on the sponge. If you don’t have a cake circle, you can use a pencil and string. Cut a circle out of the foam and place the wreath face down on the table. Add a doll head with hot glue to the top of the circle and attach to the metal wires on the back of the wreath. When it cools, apply another layer of hot glue to the bottom in the same way. Then move to the edges of the circle, hot-gluing in the same way. After the glue cools, pour more hot glue between those four locations or wherever needed.Step 8 – Clean up Feel free to use wire cutters and cut metal wires short, especially if they are covering a facial feature. Also use scissors to cut any long borders from the decorative grid. You can also add more grids now if you see more holes.There you have it, a snowman mesh wreath.
