How To Make A Simple Walking Robot At Home

In this simple project I will show you how to make a homemade Walking Robot with very minimal components. This walking robot does not require an Arduino or a Raspberry Pi. All you need is a 5V geared motor, batteries and a few ice cream sticks.

During my time at the Electronics Center, I implemented many types of robots such as hand gesture control robot, obstacle avoider robot, track robot, robotic arm, remote control robot distance etc Read: how to make simple walking robot at home have few things in common like Microcontroller (Arduino UNO in most cases), Motor driver (L293D or L298N), few motors , chassis, etc. But the robot I’m about to build doesn’t require all the fancy electronics or programming. .

The idea behind DIY walking robot

The idea behind this DIY Walking Robot is that you don’t need an expensive robot frame or the aforementioned electronics to build a working robot. A simple mechanical structure with a small rotating part (like an engine) is enough to successfully build a robot.

Motor and battery The important part of this robot is the motor. I used a 5V 150 rpm geared motor. To power this I used a small Li-po battery. You could use a switch in series with the battery and motor but I connected them directly. Make sure the motor has a double-sided shaft, the small white piece of plastic where you normally connect the wheels. Also, I’ve fixed the battery on the back of the motor’s plastic case so it stays steady without wobbling. after the specified shapes and sizes. Pierce holes in the center of both 11cm sticks. Also, pierce the holes on the stick 1.7cm, not in the middle but slightly out. Connect the rod to MotorNow, take two 1.7cm rods and connect them as shown below so that the holes are on opposite ends. This is important to simulate the walking effect.Simple DIY walking robot motor with caneNow take the 6.5cm stick and fix the two rubber tubes as shown in the picture. The pins go through these rubber sleeves. Take two 5cm measuring rods and fix the 7.5cm stick as shown below. This structure acts as the base of the leg.Simple DIY walking robot leg baseNow, for the real part of the robot, take the 11cm long rod and fix it to the center of the base structure i.e. the center of the 7.5cm rod.Simple one-legged DIY walking robotRead more: How to make refill tea at home This whole structure makes up one leg of the robot. Now, create an identical structure to the other leg using the same sticks. First, slide the open end of the foot into the rubber sleeve and in the middle, where the previous eyelets meet, place a thumb pin or something similar to secure the foot to the motor. move at the pivot point.Simple walking robot makes one leg for the motor itselfNow take the other leg structure and place it on the other side of the motor. Make the Robot Walk

After confirming all joints are properly glued, you can start the engine to test the Robot. In case you use the switch, turn on the switch and the motor starts spinning. Due to the mechanical structure of the robot, the rotation of the motor shaft turns into the forward and backward movement of the robot legs. in the rear and the rotating motor causes them to change positions alternately, and a walking motion is simulated.

Inference

A simple DIY Walking Robot with no Arduino or motor driver is designed and built in this project. This can be a fun project for kids who are interested in robots, and since it doesn’t involve any electronics and programming, they can easily build them. Read more: In The Shield Wall | Top Q&A
