Set these aside for the next step.Step 3.Take (8) Craft Sticks and place them side by side. Glue (1) Craft Glue diagonally of (8) sticks to fix the shape.Step 4.Finish off the base by cutting the Craft Stick in half and gluing the ends to form the letter “Z.”Step 5.To create the bow, cut (1) Craft Stick in half and glue the two halves to the top of the base to form a triangle.Step 6.To create the stern, take a ruler and cut (2) 2-inch pieces from a Craft Stick. Repeat so you have (2) identical “faces”.Step 9.Create the sides of the bow by cutting (3) Craft Sticks in half and then gluing (2) small Craft Sticks (from Step 2) horizontally of each set (3).Step 10.Create the edges of the stern by cutting (3) Craft Sticks into 1/4-inch pieces, then gluing (2) small pieces of Craft Sticks (from Step 2) horizontally. Repeat for a set.Step 11.Glue the sides of the bow and stern to the bottom of the ship. Tip: Use the cover action to secure the pieces in place as they dry.Step 12.Glue the sides of the ship inside the bow and outside the stern as shown.Step 13.To enclose the back of the stern, cut (4) pieces of the Craft Stick into 1 3/4 inch. Glue with small pieces of craft sticks and attach to the open back of the stern with glue.Step 14.You will not wrap the bow. Glue (5) Craft Pieces Glue the inside of the boat to complete the triangle of the bow.Step 15.Enclose the top of the stern: place (4) Craft Sticks on top of the stern. Trace the trapezoidal angle of the stern with a ruler and mark with a pencil. Repeat on the other side.Read more: how to adjust the boat trailer keel rollerStep 16.Use heavy scissors to cut the stern pieces to the angles drawn in Step 15 and glue in place.Step 17.For a complete look, measure and glue Craft Sticks to the ends of the ship’s side walls and to the tip of the bow.Step 18.Glue (3) Craft Sticks for ships’ masts; (2) in the center and a smaller mast at the aft of the ship. Glue a small piece of craft wood to each side of each mast to keep it in place. Glue a Craft Stick to the front of the bow. This is a bowsprit. Tip: secure all pieces with masking tape until dry.Step 19.Paint the ship with Washable Brown Paint. Add more water to your paintbrush to create a wood grain look.Step 20.Create a Sail: Take a sheet of cardstock or cardboard and cut (3) small squares. The square in the middle will be about 2 × 2 inches at its largest.Step 21.Gently fold each sail in half and cut a small slit.Step 22.Paint each sail with the emblem of the Red Cross, as seen on Columbus’ ships Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria.
