Since we are currently stationed further inland from Hawai’i, I focused on giving graduates ribbons because I don’t have easy access to traditional Hawaiian flowers. Ribbon bracelets are ideal for graduation as they can be kept as a keepsake. This year, I expanded my lei making repertoire by creating double braided ribbon lei. Once you know the steps, they are easy to follow and quite impressive. I grew up in Hawaii. This is from my high school graduation just last year (wink) with about half of the total necklaces I received. If you’re not used to graduating in Hawaii, I get fewer rewards than many of my classmates with large families.Somewhere in that beautiful necklace around my neck were a few ribbon necklaces. While everyone loves fresh wreaths, a ribbon is special when it’s made just for you. I have kept my ribbons for many years as precious keepsakes and memories of a very special day.
