Coal Hookah is one of the most basic but necessary ingredients to have a good hookah. They are the heating element tobacco needs to cook and produce both the cloud and the flavor. There are two main types of charcoal for your hookah: limestone coal and coconut charcoal. The flash light turns on quickly because the accelerator is added to the outer layer of the coal. People often use quick lights when in trouble because they can easily be lit with a simple lighter. These charcoals are made from ground coconut shells and are very useful for your hookah session. They take longer to light up but they stay fresh much longer, produce minimal ash (assuming quality coconut charcoal is being used) and don’t add any flavor to your bowl, giving you the cleanest possible taste when smoked. HOW TO LIGHT YOU HOOKAH THANKS

The most common way to burn coconut coal is electric burning. You’ll want to find a burner with a coil, such as the Fumari Hookah Coal Burner. This burner has a single coil and is the most efficient way to light your coals. Avoid electric burners with flat tops as they do not provide oxygen to the bottom of the coal and do a poor job of lighting the entire coal. If you want to use your stove at home, you should do it only on a coil-top stove or a gas-powered stove. You will likely need to eventually replace the coils due to coal heat damage but coil replacement can cost as little as $10-20 and is easy to replace. From previous experience, you will only replace the coil after a year or so. With a gas stove, it is convenient if you have a stainless steel grating to place the coals on as this allows the coals to breathe properly, which increases the lighting time. DO NOT burn coal on an electric stove! Charcoal leaves permanent marks and can completely crack the surface of the stove. Other methods for lighting charcoal exist such as bonfires or even outdoor grilling. These are situational options depending on your smoking location but work well as long as you make sure the coals can burn completely. You can also buy a camping burner that runs out of gas. HOW LONG TO THE LIGHT

The flash light takes about a minute or so to fully light up. After the coals start to light, leave the coals on the tray until the coals burn out (it will become ash gray and bright red) then place in the center of the bowl. If you are using this charcoal, make sure it is fully lit before using as there is an accelerator on these coals which will make them taste much worse and unsafe to inhale. . select and turn on the heat. After about 5 minutes, the coals will need to be turned over when they are halfway lit. Once they are fully lit, you can place them in your bowl and enjoy your session. Again, make sure they are fully lit before you start smoking. You’ll know they’re fully lit when the coals are completely covered in a light layer of ash and have a vibrant red/orange color. The whole lighting process for coconut charcoal should take about 8-12 minutes depending on the size of the charcoal. SHIPPING YOUR COAL LIT

Proper handling of lit charcoal is an important but overlooked part of the hookah smoking process. Be careful with your coals while they are hot as they can damage your floor, couch or carpet. Ideally, you should choose to place the coals on your bowl over the burner so there is little room for error while moving your hot coals.
