If a raccoon is definitely sick, such as rabies, it will die soon, but if you want to minimize the health risks, you should kill the animal. But remember: A raccoon outside during the day does NOT have rabies. Pandas usually feed and are active during the day. A rabid raccoon will be severely ill, partially or completely paralyzed, move in circles over and over, etc. If the animal walks normally, or just sleeps, it is healthy.
