Surefire MB762SSAL/RE muzzle brakes offer excellent muzzle roll reduction as well as the ability to mount one of their silencers. The design of the brake requires that the 2.15″ of the barrel behind the thread no longer have a .775″ diameter afterwards to accommodate the device. For many bolt-action rifles, this requires screwing the muzzle down behind the ropes. The following documents document the process we use to install the brakes and are for informational purposes only. We ordered the following parts from Brownells:

  • Surefire MB762SSAL / RE . muzzle brake
  • 5 / 8-24 die
  • Meter setting
  • 3/8 high speed steel cutter for lathe
  • Crown saver
