How To Increase Your Inventory
It won’t take long playing Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild before you run out of room to pick up more weapons. This is easy enough to fix if you put in a little work. Throughout Hyrule, there are creatures called koroks. When you find them, they’ll give you a korok seed. You give these seeds back to another korok named Hestu in exchange for an extra slot in one of your inventory categories. There are a total of 900 koroks in Breath of the Wild, but you only need to find 441 seeds to max out your inventory. With so many koroks hiding around the map, it’s pretty easy to find their trials. They’re not always easy to reveal the korok and claim your seed, though. Below, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about korok seeds and expanding your inventory.Reading: how to increase inventory botwWe’re not, however, going to walk you through how to find and reveal all 900 koroks. That’s, frankly, a lot of work and it’s already very well handled by the interactive map made by Zelda Universe and Hyrule Legends (which we wrote about here). But we aren’t leaving you on your own. At the bottom of this guide, you’ll find a walkthrough that will earn you 45 seeds — enough to expand all three of your stashes by five slots.
How to expand your inventory
Contents
First, to be clear, the only inventories you need to worry about are your weapon, bow and shield stashes. As for the others, your outfits and materials will expand automatically, and there is no way to expand your meals inventory. With that clarification out of the way, let’s talk about what you need to do.The actual process of expanding your inventories is simple enough. You exchange a number korok seeds for a new slot. The cost of each slot increases as you continue to expand your inventories (see the table above for the number each slot costs). The only catch is that Hestu doesn’t stay put.
Finding Hestu
There are three locations where you’ll meet Hestu over the course of the game. The first time you meet him, he’ll be along the road to the south of Kakariko Village. He’ll stay here until you upgrade your inventory twice. From there, he’ll move to the Riverside Stable. This stable is straight west of Kakariko Village next to Wahgo Katta shrine. After six more upgrades, Hestu will move to his final location.Hestu finally makes it home and you’ll find him in Korok Forrest for the rest of the game. You can use the Keo Ruug shrine to get to him for quick expansions.
Finding and gathering korok seeds
There are 900 koroks scattered around Hyrule, so the short answer to finding one is to take three steps and look around. It’s not quite that simple, but it’s not really a difficult process. The key to finding koroks is to look for something out of place. Look for things like a rock that’s sitting on top of a pillar, or a balloon with a target painted on it, or an unnatural arrangement of stones. If you listen very carefully, you’ll also hear a wooden wind chime sound when you’re close to a korok. There are 13(ish) ways you’ll encounter koroks in the (Breath of the) wild.Sparkling leavesRead more: How much to charge for matterport scanThese are the easiest to find because they’re out in the open. You’ll usually find them after climbing up to the very top of something like a building, a tower or a flagpole.Running sparkling leavesSometimes the sparkling leaves are racing around a location. You just have to get close and examine the sparkles.Under rocksThis is the most common type of korok you’ll find. Just watch for an unexpected rock in a fairly conspicuous place. Lift the rock to find the korok.Under rocks with an extra stepSometimes you have to perform an extra step to find the rock to pick up. Look for something else out of place like a pile of leaves or a chunk of ice. Destroy whatever it is — usually by burning — to find the rock to pick up.OfferingsThroughout Hyrule, you’ll come across sets of statues with offerings in the tray in front of them. Drop a matching piece of fruit into the empty tray to reveal the korok.ArcheryThere are a few variations on this theme, but they all boil down to the same thing — use your bow to destroy a thing and you’ll find a korok. Sometimes it’s an acorn in a log or the hollow of a tree, or some number of balloons to shoot. The most obvious version of these trials is to watch for a pinwheel. Standing next to these will start the trial.Race (Pilotwings trials)These are usually marked with a stump to stand on. When you do, a ring of lights will appear. Your task is to race to (or through) the ring before the lights go out.DivingWatch for rings of plants on the water. Diving through these will reveal a korok.Rock patternsThese trials also have a few variations, but the task itself is pretty simple — complete the pattern. You just have to place the final rock to complete the pattern.Sometimes it can be difficult to find that last rock, though. Use stasis to highlight them — this will make your job much, much easier.Cube patternsThese are basically magnesis trials. When you find a pile of metal blocks in a sculpture-like pattern, there will be a loose metal block nearby. Use magnesis to make the piles match, and a korok will show up to reward you.Ball and chainA few times, you will find a metal ball on a chain. You have to use magnesis to place the metal ball into a nearby depression, or, like you’ll see below, arrange linked metal balls in a pattern.Flower trailsSome koroks hide at the end of a trail of five flowers. Watch for a yellow flower that disappears when you touch it. Look around for a new flower to appear, then go to that one. Repeat this process until you find the korok.Boulder in a holeRead more: how to build a speed bag platformYou will occasionally come across an out-of-place boulder. Look nearby for a hole in the ground. Push the boulder (or carefully use stasis) into the hole to find the korok.Match the treesIf you come across a set of fruit trees that look suspiciously similar, your task is to make them all match. In the image above, you can see that the right two trees only have one apple each. Remove the four apples on the leftmost tree so that it looks like its neighbors to reveal the korok.
Your first 45 seeds
Looking at the table above, you need 45 korok seeds to upgrade all three of your stashes five times each. We’ve got you covered, though. With just a little work — a little over an hour of playing — you can gather these 45 and get a good head start on expanding your inventory. These are all along a relatively straight path from the Great Plateau, across the Bridge of Hylia and into the Farron Woods. Each section below includes three things:
The maps, gallery and list are all numbered so you can match the information as you need it. The maps will get you to the area, the gallery will help you pin down what you’re looking for, and the list will fill in any other details you need. The Great PlateauThere are 19 korok seeds that you can gather on and around the Great Plateau in about 30 minutes. Our loop starts at Owa Daim shrine and loops around the plateau counterclockwise. Use the map above and the gallery below to help you find them. These 19 seeds will let you upgrade your weapon stash (or your bow stash) by five slots.Use the numbers on the map above, the numbered images in the gallery and the numbered list below to help you figure out exactly where each korok is, and what you have to do to reveal it.Read more: how to zoom in davinci resolve | Top Q&A
Bridge of HyliaThere are eight more seeds you can collect along the Bridge of Hylia just southeast of the Great Plateau. You’ll have to do a lot of climbing and some backtracking, but you can grab these in about 15 minutes. If you’re just joining us, or had to wander off, Ja Baij shrine on the Great Plateau is the closest shrine to the north end of the bridge.Use the numbers on the map above, the numbered images in the gallery and the numbered list below to help you figure out exactly where each korok is, and what you have to do to reveal it.Read more: how to zoom in davinci resolve | Top Q&A
Faron WoodsContinuing to the southeast from the bridge, there are many more korok seeds to find. We’ve listed 18 on the map above (and in the gallery below) that you can gather with another 30 minutes of effort. If you’ve been following along, these 18 should bring your total number of korok seeds to a total of 45. This is enough to expand all five of your stashes by five slots each.If you’re coming back to this area instead of continuing from the bridge walkthrough above, the fastest way back is to travel to the Lake Tower, then paraglide straight north. You’ll land pretty close to the south end of the bridge. You could also travel to Ya Naga or Pumaag Nitae shrines, but this will take you a bit longer.Use the numbers on the map above, the numbered images in the gallery and the numbered list below to help you figure out exactly where each korok is, and what you have to do to reveal it.Read more: how to zoom in davinci resolve | Top Q&A
