What tools do you need for this tutorial?

You only need a soft graphite pen, allowing you to achieve a large value range from very dark to very light. You will need an eraser, personally I prefer to use a kneadable eraser as it is very clean when you use it but you can really use any eraser you have on hand. need something to blend the graphite eg some soft paper (toilet paper) or you can just use your fingers (I wouldn’t recommend doing that though) and in the end you need a surface to draw on, any thicker paper will do. but I recommend regular drawing or sketching paper. Normally I don’t like to smudge my drawings. If you’ve never learned how to render a form with lines, don’t try and render it by smudging your lines. Don’t abuse it! So in this step I soften the shades but I’m careful not to destroy the clear outline at the bottom of the artboard.
