How To Do Cat Ears With Hair
So this style, silly and crazy, is fun to create, and Bug agrees it’s probably one of her favorite tutorials we’ve done for Halloween. Apparently in 2008 when we first started blogging, we created cat ears on Bug using pipe cleaner and we braided her hair around it, then curled it into the shape we want. Ours Cat ear pipe cleaners can be found HERE. Sometimes it’s fun to see a comparison after all these years!Reading: how to do cat ears I’m seeing Halloween hairstyles popping up all over the place, and for some reason I’m having the hardest time shifting my thoughts to the upcoming holidays! We have so much going on in our homes these days, I deny the holidays are upon us! This style requires no pipe cleaners, just a few small pins and some ponytails. It also works well with her short hair. These could also be considered “devil horns” but since I’m not a fan of those, we stuck with the cute cat ear idea!
Step 1 – Part of the hair from the center of the forehead back to the crown

Step 2 – Make another section that runs parallel to it from temples to crown so you have a long rectangular part that sticks out
Step 3 – With a ponytail, create a high ponytail
Step 4 – On the last turn of the ponytail, don’t pull all the hair through the ponytail so it forms a loop
Step 5 – Spray water or spray hairspray to make your hair easier to “stick”
Step 6 – Wrap the hair counterclockwise around the base of the ponytail

I did it both ways the few times we did this and it worked fine. I like the flat-wrapped hairstyle which looks a bit better because it makes the ears look “smoother”.
Step 7 – Continue wrapping your hair up to almost cover the top of the loop
Step 8 – Gradually work your way up and down the “ears” until you are almost out of hair
Step 9 – Wrap the ends around the bottom of the “ears” so you can tuck them in and hide them
If you use large bobby pins, they will most likely stick out from the sides of the cat’s ears, so small studs will work best. If you need small bobby pins, you can buy some HERE.
Step 11 – Spray hairspray thoroughly to make sure everything is in place
Step 12- If you want the cat’s ears to look more pointed, simply pull a little loop of wire that sticks out from the top of the curled hair.
Step 13 – Repeat all the above steps on the opposite side of the head.
COMPLETE!
