How To Connect Two Coaxial Cables To One Tv

Coax cable is a boon for all of us. They are highly functional and transmit signals seamlessly. They are usually used for television and radio transmission. In some places, they are also a means of accessing the Internet. Today, almost every home has several coax cables for different purposes. These cables work best when they are grounded. They are always protected and transmit signals without significant loss. However, there may be cases where the coax cable breaks or isn’t long enough for you. Does that mean you buy a new, longer cable? Not really. You can actually wire two coax cables together! This is a recommended method as it is easy, fast and affordable. The cost of coax cable depends on the length (among other factors). So if you buy a long one, it will cost you more.

  • Buy one coaxial coupler.
  • Take the first coax cable and connect it to one end of the coupler.
  • Take the second coax cable and connect it to the other end of the coupler.
  • And do!
  • Detailed solution

You will need an adapter and 2 F plugs along with a cable stripper and cutter. After you assemble all of these, follow the steps below:

  • Start with the coaxial stripping tool. You can also use a utility knife here. Cut only the outer layer of the coax cable at a distance of about 12 mm from the tip. Be very careful here and do not cut deeper than the outer layer.
  • Remove what you’ve cut – you’ll see the braid of the wire. Fold the braid back.
  • If you have a dual display cable, you will also have to cut the display cable. The purpose is to expose the dielectric material.
  • Now cut the dielectric material carefully. Leave only about 3mm electrical gap.
  • Take 1 plug F and screw it’s on top of the braid you folded earlier.
  • Twist carefully but firmly so that the dielectric is in place.
  • You should now see about 2 mm of lead towards the end of the plug. If there is more than 2mm, you must cut it. Use the crop tool for this.
  • Follow the same steps on the second coax cable.
  • Now, take the coupler and connect it to both ends.
  • Fasten securely in place.
