PREPARING YOUR WORK AREA

OPENING ONE-POINT CUTTING AMPLIFIER (OPC) WITHOUT AMPOULE OPENER

Lift the ampoule and hold its bottom between your thumb and index finger. Be sure to remove all liquid from the tip of the tube by tapping the tube with your other finger. Hold the tube so that the colored dot is facing you.
Use the other hand to grasp the tip of the ampoule. Place your thumb on the colored dot and index finger on the opposite (back) side of the tube-shaped part of the tube.
Hold the bottom of the ampoule in an upright position and push the top out of the dot using light, even pressure. The tube will burst in a split second. Using too much force can break the tube! If the ampoule is broken, discard it and use a new ampoule.
If the tube does not open, reposition it in your hand and try again. If it seems extremely difficult to open, do not try to open it with force. Try with a different tube or use an ampoule opener.

With the other hand, thread the tube opener through the tip of the ampoule into just the neck below the tubercle.
Grasp the ampoule opener with your thumb and forefinger placed on opposite sides on the designated area near the neck of the ampoule and make sure that the dot on the ampoule remains under your thumb. .
Hold the bottom of the ampoule in an upright position and push the top out of the dot using light, even pressure. The tube will burst in a split second. Don’t be surprised if the tip of the ampoule jumps out of the opener when the vial opens.

SUPPORT SAFETY AND ERROR

To prevent the glass from breaking, never try to break the vial with force!
Always apply pressure away from the colored dot, never in any other direction.
Avoid any push, pull or twist while applying pressure to the ampoule to open it.
Pressure between the index finger and thumb of either hand can cause the tube to burst unintentionally and possibly injure the operator.

Do not use the medicine if your tube is broken or if the opened tube becomes contaminated with glass after opening.
