As a household we really get pleasure from fishing. It’s one of our favorite outings, and we enjoy preparing dinners of our contemporary catches. I have talked about many cases where I grew up in the family catfish restaurant business. For a long time we’ve been buying quarts of the iconic tartar sauce to go with our fried catfish. One night, the buyers started complaining that it wasn’t the right style. We opened another jar and it was exactly the same. So from then on, we did it all over again.BATTERY IT IN WINTER NOW!Also Read: How to Use Brown SauceJust take me to Recipes! In case you’re just looking for a recipe, scroll right down the back for a printable recipe card. In any other case, check out my recipe recommendations and variations! I’m sure I’ve made gallons of tartar sauce over the years but I’ve never measured something. I simply tasted it until I was satisfied with it. After sharing our recipe for our scrumptious Fish Sauce, I knew it was time to share a common sour and sour sauce recipe to go with it.
How To Make Simple Tartar Sauce:
Variations of tartar sauce:
- Add any contemporary herbs that you have on hand. Parsley, cilantro, or thyme can make great additions.
- Capers are optional. They have an extra salty, salty taste but not everyone seems to like it. We didn’t use capers in our restaurant model, and sometimes I just use them when they’re available.
- If you love horseradish, it can really add a lot of flavor to your tartar sauce.
- If you like a spicy dish, you can always stir it up with just a few pickled chili peppers.
Tartar Sauce is really easy to make from scratch. Use elements you may have available. I recommend leaving the tartar sauce in the fridge for an hour or so for the flavors to really come together. However, in case of folding, you only need to combine when cooking fish. Either way, it will be delicious.
How Long Will Tartar Sauce Keep?
Tartar Sauce will usually keep for about 2 weeks in an airtight container in the refrigerator. I would have kept it a little longer if it didn’t have contemporary herbs in it.
