How To Install Pull Up Bar On Wall
TVs are very cheap these days. I went to Amazon and found a BIG flat screen TV for $200, but things weren’t always like that. Think thousands of dollars, and they are NEW and CREATIVE. Only great kids have them.And the best thing you can do is mount one in the wall. I know we do this all the time, but back in the day, this was a novel idea.

You see, most of the walls are made of drywall floating on studs. The walls look solid, don’t they? Well, the wood studs behind them are solid wood, and the construction is solid.
Would you trust it to hold the TV up? Well, some people did. And then this happened.
So funny…
When it happens to someone else.
But the sad thing is when a pull-up bar or squat rack fails… because it doesn’t fit properly into the studs. :
What is a delay screw?
Lag screws are sturdy fasteners used to connect laminated timber in applications subject to high loads.
In other words, Lag Screws are what you should be using to install trusses, retractable squat racks, or tow bars into wood.
When you are installing a truss, retractable squat rack or tow bar into the wood, we recommend:
- You use a lanyard to increase the strength of the structure. We usually recommend a set of 2″ x 4″, 2″ x 6″, 2″ x 8″, or 2″ x 10″ wires depending on the application.
- Use 3/8″ x 5″ delay screw + washer to install the chain to your studs
- Use 1/2″ x 2″ delay screw + washer to install the truss, retractable squat rack or tow bar to the drying rack
You use shorter hysteresis screws to attach to the tensioner because the puller is thinner than the studs you’re getting into.
Also note that a “lattched screw” is also known as a “delay bolt” or simply a “lag” by some.
Delay screw, delay bolt or delay wire are all the same – just different names.
How to use anti-hysteresis screws?
To use a delay screw, you drill a pilot hole slightly smaller in diameter than the width of the screw. Then use a ratchet to fully tighten the screw down. Don’t forget your washing machine!

Any home improvement store will have them or Amazon (3/8″ x 5″ delay screw | 1/2″ x 2″ delay)
