How To Install Universal Exhaust Hanger

Adding a new exhaust system to your car but don’t want to use cheap parts store mounts and clamps?

Let’s face it, we all know how terrible they are, aside from they just look sloppy, they almost never last very long. U-bolt clamps are just as bad, you should hope that you have them exactly where you want them because chances are, once you tighten them they will surely rust to close in a few weeks.Read: how to install a universal exhaust hanger Here’s how you can make your own custom exhaust mount using one of those cheap parts store hangers. Simple, inexpensive and even allows easy removal of the entire system.

What you need:

– Versatile exhaust hanger with an open, swivel end. (It should be this style, you will see why later)– 1.25″ X 1.25″ piece of steel 1/8″ – 5/16″ or 3/8″ Threaded pin approx 1″ long, washer with lock and hex nut. – High temperature paint (to prevent rust) p39628 Read more: how to beat the soft fairy island on poptropica

Progress:

First, you will need to cut the end of the exhaust hanger, with a Cut Wheel, along the drawn line. This part can be thrown out. Read more: how to beat wimpy fairy island on poptropicaClip the square tab to the mount with enough room to drill a hole large enough for the bolt you’re using, in my case it was a 3/8″ hole. Mark the center of where you want the hole and use Center Punch to indent the metal so the drill doesn’t wander around.With the two pieces clamped, use the Step Bit to drill through both pieces so the holes remain aligned. Thread the bolt through and tighten by hand so that the tab remains square. The step drill makes it easy to drill large diameter holes, an essential tool when doing any kind of metal fabrication. You should first determine where you want to attach the hanger to the body or frame of your car, to make sure the hanger is long enough to reach the pipe. Creating this custom exhaust mount will cost the same as using those Sticky U Bolts and it makes exhaust removal a breeze.
