How To Make Giant Mushroom Decorations

Video How to make decorative giant mushroomsProps are very important to create the perfect party atmosphere. I made this giant mushroom for the classic Glam Wonderland Party. It is very easy to do and takes a bit of time. But more importantly, it turned out great and was so cheap to do. Can you guess what the top of the mushroom is made of? Guess what? It’s a aluminum foil baking pan Buy at the dollar store! You can make this mushroom using recycled materials. Save your roasting pan when finished cooking with it. Save your old newspapers and you have your own paper knife mushroom creations.MUNITION:large aluminum baking pan – I bought this at the dollar store. It’s a large turkey about the size of a newspaper packet, two empty packets of oatmeal or a syringe with recipe paper – flour and water-based paint – I used cream and pinkShape the aluminum pan to the shape you need. Aluminum pans can be easily machined into a round shape. Rotate the tray upside down. Turn the newspaper over and place it on the “top” of the pan which is actually the bottom (see image above). I used duct tape to hold the papers in placeThen I covered the top with duct tape. This is the color of the duct tape that I happen to have on hand. All the newspapers are held together by tape and it also helps to shape the top!Paper Mache Solution: Mix flour and water together to form a thick cream-like paste. Stir until lumps are gone. Tear off the newspaper and dip it in the pulp solution. Stick to the top of the mushroom. Continue applying layers until you get the shape you want. Remember to let it dry completely between a few coats. Otherwise, you may get mold.Read more: How to keep white dipped nails from yellowing Tape holds them together.Glue the foil to the stem like the instructions for the top of the mushroom. The bottom of the stem is slightly flared.The top size is 18″ in diameter and 7″ in height. Mushroom body 20.5 inches tall, 5 inches in diameter, covered with handmade paint. I used cream and pink paint!Glitter has been applied to the stem and the polka dots.
