Making a reserve can is a very simple process. In this example, I’m using a used can of aerosol paint, but any similar paint can be used. Here’s how: Read more: How to hum a pillow
- have used up all possible aerosol cans or similar
- can opener
- ceramic block or disc magnet (or similar strong magnet)
Putting it all together Step 1: Take an empty can. Especially if you’re using a spray bottle, make sure you’ve released all the air pressure by pressing on the nozzle until no more air comes out. Step 2: Remove the bottom part. With a standard can opener, place the circular blade directly over the metal rim of the bottom and open the way you would open a regular can of food. Step 3: Clean the cans. Once you’ve completely opened the lid, be sure to wipe off the paint, whipped cream, or anything that’s left in the can. Step 4: Put the magnet in the can. Take your magnets and place them in the bottom of the can (since the cans are made from metal they will stick without the adhesive). Step 4: Put your valuables in the can. Step 5: Replace the bottom surface. Since the bottom cap is made of metal, it will also grip the magnet tightly. With the strength of the magnet, you can store even heavy objects like precious metals without the risk of them falling out. Step 6: “Hide” it outdoors. For this step, you want it to blend in as well as possible with the other items around it. For example, you wouldn’t want to store a box of whipped cream in the middle of a pile of paint cans. It needs to match its environment.
