Get access to your car

Removing the cover or access cover will allow access to the lock. Some door handles pull out, revealing the lock when the handle is pushed out. It is not uncommon for door locks to be fitted and sometimes only for the front door of the driver or passenger. If in doubt, google your model for access points and techniques.
Step 3 Operating the door lock
You know how this works, but be prepared that if your key battery dies, your car alarm will sound when the door is opened. Putting the key/fob in the socket will turn off the alarm. Also, it should be noted, most likely the door lock is very hard because it has probably never been used. One hit of the WD40 will do wonders, but be careful not to damage the key, especially since it’s needed for the ignition switch.
If you have misplaced the hidden key blade and still have the fob and the fob light working when you press the key, access is still possible but requires more work. including roof and trunk. The roof can be opened by snapping but it is very difficult. Instead, follow the process below, but you’ll need tools and time. Tools you will need:
- Jack
- Vertical
- Torx / screwdriver / small socket set
- Donor battery charged
- Dance in the lead

- Car front jack and support with axle bracket
- Remove splash protection
- Locate the starter motor
- Fit the ground cable to the charged donor battery and to the car chassis or engine cover
- Insert the battery positive cable into the metal shank of a long screwdriver – (An electrical probe makes this whole process a lot easier, see here on the Auto Power Tools page)
- Place screwdriver/power probe on starter’s power supply (cap may need to be removed)
- Keeping the screwdriver on the starter supply, have a helper connect the positive lead to the donor battery positive feed (be careful not to ground the screwdriver on the chassis or motor)
- Now have a helper press the unlock fob button while holding power to the starter
- Car will now unlock
How to start your car
Accelerated start is the fastest way to start your car, but the battery can fail and so it may not keep running. Read more: how to split dvd for plex and 4. Start the car and remove cables 4, 3, 2 and 1. The last cable at 4 is attached to ground (GRD). Ground is any clean, unpainted metal on the chassis or engine.See battery test below. 1 Check the battery
To test the battery, run the volt test first and then the crank test. You will need a voltmeter to run these tests. Attach a DVOM or voltmeter and simply read the state of charge. However, the load test is a better test of the battery’s ability to provide a steady voltage, see the crank test below. (note: battery must be charged above 12.5 volts)
- 12.7 – 13.2 volts 100% charged
- 12.4 volts charged 75%
- 12.2 volts 50% charged
- 12.0 volts charged 25%
- 0 – 11.9 volts discharged (Flat)

3 Battery drain due to parasites
Parasitic drop is the voltage that comes out of your battery when your car is idle. It is usually caused by a faulty part such as a radio or alarm, etc. Post-marketed accessories are a common source of drain parasites. Follow the test above to check the drain. It is important not to open doors etc during the test as this will wake up the computer modules and cause incorrect diagnostics. What to do if the door lock does not turn? If your car door lock won’t turn, remove the key and inspect it for damage or debris. Using WD40, spray onto the door lock and onto the key blade. Manipulate the key in and out of the lock and from side to side without applying force.
