Advice for when you’re single and waiting for love
Contents
I have to be honest, this has confused me. My blog is a modern-day advice column, but I like to write about what I know. Honestly, I know very little about being single. I met my future husband when I was 8 years old. We started dating when I was 15 and got married about a decade later. I know full well that my situation is completely unusual and that no one meets their soul mate at the age of 15. How am I qualified to share advice on what to do while you are single. ? time – so I’m a complete pro at this! (joking…sort of) Let’s start:
KNOW YOURSELF FIRST

While you’re hoping for the prince (or princess) to find you, it’s important that you make finding yourself a priority. What do you like? What do you not like? What is the deal for you and what is not? Being comfortable in your own skin will help you find someone who complements you, not completes you.
As someone who is constantly in bed in the middle of the night and loves to stay – this hurts to say. As a single person, you can’t just swipe your way to change. You have to be open-minded when going out and meeting people. Hang out with colleagues, old friends and make new friends. Meet as many people your social stamina can handle – but Be safe. Don’t go places alone and always bring a trusted friend.
DO NOT RUN
When you’re struggling with being single, you’re missing out on one of the best times of your life. Life doesn’t start after you’re in a relationship it’s married to – it’s happening right now. Enjoy every stage of the journey. Make friends, meet new people and do the things you enjoy now. Trust me, being single is better than being tied down in a relationship with the wrong person.
BOOK YOUR LIST
Write down 5 non-negotiables, but don’t overthink it. Think about the direction you want your life to take. Do you want to get married? When? Do you want to have children? What about career? Where do you live? Long distance relationship – deal breaker? Are you open with people who drink or take drugs? Be honest with yourself and don’t be afraid to be picky.
DON’T TAKE IT PERSONALIZED

There are millions of successful, smart, and amazing people who are still single and that’s getting stronger. Knowing what you want and not deal with is admirable and frankly makes you a boss. * fist *
MAY UP TO DAY
Amazingly, I always have to tell my single guy friends that, dating and Not are in a relationship. Casual flirting is a good thing – it can be expensive and time consuming, though. Do fun things for yourself and invite a friend to come along. Long walk? Invite your text friends to join. (I must warn you by saying that you should always be honest about what you’re looking for, especially if you’re dating casually so you’re on the same page!) You don’t have to try right away! i.e. dating without a relationship is perfectly acceptable as long as communication is clear! RELATED: The Biggest Sacrifice I Made For My Marriage
FIND Hobbies
Sign up for an activity that involves others like a studio dance class, volunteering, or cooking class. Hobbies like these push you out of your comfort zone and not stuck at home. Maybe bar and club life isn’t your thing and that’s okay. There are so many options to go out and do something you enjoy where you may or may not meet someone who also likes the things you do!
Final thoughts on being single and waiting for love
I honestly believe that when you are rushing to the next stage of your life, you are missing out on time that you will never get back. Remember when we were kids and in such a rush to grow up? Now playing outside for hours until the street lights come on is pretty epic. Fate has a way of dealing with things, so enjoy every minute. Read more: how to find the perimeter of an area
