Therefore, this method may not resolve all duplicate contacts. If you want to back up your data, then you most likely have Gmail contact sync enabled. This is a built-in android feature that will sync all your contacts with the Gmail account attached to your phone. Gmail account and click “Gmail” from the left menu. From the drop-down menu, click “Contacts” and all your contacts will be displayed.
Now click “Add” at the top of the screen and from the drop-down menu click “Find & Merge Duplicates…”
After a short period of time, you will see all the duplicate contacts. You can deselect any contact if you want to keep it, otherwise just click “Merge” and all your contacts will be merged.

In this tutorial we will be using Duplicate Contacts app. It is an extremely simple application to use and it also has a good reputation on Google Play Store, all you have to do is download and launch the application and it will automatically scan and display all duplicate contacts. You can deselect any duplicate contacts you want before deleting for safekeeping.
Now, click on “Delete Selected” and from the prompt, click “Yes” to remove all your duplicate contacts.
