Can I use tinned coating for drip cakes? I came across this query so many times not too long ago and the answer is sure, you need to use canned frosting for a drip cake! And sure enough, the result is amazing!! So for now I’m sharing tips on how to make canned drip cakes. But first, a little background. It wasn’t that long ago that I hadn’t even heard of using canned frosting to make drips on a cake. So, after I noticed it being taught in my baking group, All Issues Cake, I was quite intrigued.

People who have used it have said that it is extremely simple, even foolproof and correct… I just want to simply address the downside of the cake. however it really is not always foolproof. After trying out the melts and ganaches, I know it’s a problem to always get the “just right” drip. I even tackled this dilemma in my e-book, Cake Adorning for Freshmen. And the fact is, dripping truffles are adorable, chic and fashionable… but beyond that, it’s also easy to mess up. Ask me how do I know? ????However, now, after one last attempt at canning frosting to make a drip cake, I can confidently say that canned frosting is by far the simplest method for adding color drops. Into the super fashionable dripping truffles! So, do it now…
Canned Drip Cake
To make the drip, you probably want two issues… canned white coating and meal color. I wouldn’t be advocating something other than gel color. OH. And a spoon
Start with a mellow cake.
Okay… you might have to stuff the cake then let it cool and refrigerate. For this cake, I used a 6-inch strawberry cake with vanilla buttercream. I stuffed it, chilled it, then chilled it so it would be good and organ (and cold).
Melt the canned frosting.
To prepare for the frosting, I opened the top, peeled off the foil, and placed it in the microwave without a lid. Then I warm it up for 10 seconds. I stirred and warmed another for 10 seconds. And repeat for the last time, for 30 seconds. Times will fluctuate mainly based on the base of your microwave, however mainly you need a coating that melts, heats, is easy and pourable. You don’t need it so scorched that it starts to foam.I used a knife to stir my butter so I could get into the corners and it took absolutely no work.
Color the canned overlay.

I wish the drips would be quite vibrant so I ended up including additional drops. The frosting won’t actually change color after it’s set (like making your own buttercream frosting) so go ahead and get the color you need.
Spoon the frosting on to tap the drip.
Okay – so once the frosting is ready, take your cooled cake and place it on the turntable. Then, using a spatula, gently add a small amount of frosting near the burn (not on top of the burn, though). Then, using the nib of a spatula, gently push a small bit out and over the sting until it begins to drip down. Then flip a bit and repeat. You can preserve cake work, including dripping about an inch to the side. If you happen to find that the water droplets are running down the cake to the extent you want, you can press a little more into the sting.Preserve until you get back to where you started. Once you’ve finished all the drips, it’s time to fill in the middle.Use a spatula to add the frosting and ease as you do, until the center is completely covered with frosting. It’s not really quick to set up so it’s best to be able to make it as easy as you want.I usually go back and clean the perimeters if I see any that I don’t like.
The finished drip cake:
I used to be extremely happy with how simple a drip cake with tinned topping was. It is simple to work with, simple to draw, and extremely easy and fair.I haven’t decided that I will ever use anything for the drip! Before embellishing, I put the cake in the fridge for about 1/4 hour to set. I was also further instructed that they would sort at room temperature, but it would certainly take longer.Read more: How long to bake my good friend Holly at As soon as a Cupcake has applied the white (no color) coating, let the set drip completely, then paint the gold drops great success (see picture above!!) Finish the cake…
I didn’t {photograph} the rest of me to decorate this cake, however I can give you some specifics.I used a 1M tip to draw the outline and small clouds of frosting on the top of the cake. This cake is really easy to do and your shoppers will find it irresistible to those offering these for Valentine’s Day or changing that color and design for any holiday!
But how does it style?
In terms of effectiveness, it tastes like canned mist. Obviously, for those who hate the frozen canning style, you won’t need to use this in your truffles. Personally, it’s not my favorite (because ganache is amazing!), however I like it appropriate to use it for sure. So I don’t anticipate any complaints from them, it’s like the difference between homemade pizza and Pizza Hut pizza. Obviously they are not the same. I prefer the do-it-yourself pizza method – because it’s do-it-yourself. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to tear up a bit of Meat Lovers Pizza when the opportunity arises. Or after I want a quick meal that I don’t have to prepare dinner yet. In the end it’s a private alternative, but for those who don’t hate the style, I believe it’s a great solution!
Can I mine colored pre-packaged fog?
I’ll guess “yes”, however I’ve only tested with white, so I can’t guarantee it. You can ask in the All Issues Cake group on this thread. Read more: How long to bake a salmon fillet at 350
