We also further limit any “active scrubbing” to 10 minutes because really, who wants to clean a pan for longer?!

Warning: Before cleaning your pan, test the strategy on a small, inconspicuous part to make sure it doesn’t injure the floor. The strategies below are for stainless steel cookware and never for stainless steel cookware.
5 strategies for cleaning fire pans
Technique 1: Baking Soda + Vinegar
style of the houseFavorable: This methodology uses inexpensive pantry gadgets that most people already have. How it works: Pour half the amount of water and vinegar into the dirty pan. Bring the mixture to a boil then add 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Remove from heat and soak for about 1/4 hour. Pour the liquid down the drain then use a sponge or scouring pad to clean up any remaining stains. If spots persist, apply a paste made from baking soda mixed with a little water and let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing it again. What happen: We had overestimated this method as it turned out nicely as a result of testing the best strategies for cleaning baking sheets. After just 5 minutes of soaking, we observed some pieces of charcoal starting to float to the floor! However, we chose to let this continue to soak for a complete quarter of an hour because it seemed that some of the faulty bits were quickly retained. After rinsing and 10 minutes of vigorous scrubbing with the scouring pad, we were able to elevate many burnt dishes. Undoubtedly, a follow-up use of baking soda powder is essential and further scrubbing is important to lift the remaining particles.Rating: 3/5
Technique 2: Lemon

Set the pan over medium-high heat and fill it with water so the lemons don’t overwhelm. Boil the lemon juice for 5-8 minutes then remove the pan from the kettle. You’ll know the pan is ready for one final scrub while you start to see food particles floating on the water floor. Discard the lemon and drain. Rinse with clear, hot water and use a scouring pad or brush to loosen and remove any remaining debris. What happen: This is our least favorite method. While we would respect the all-natural method, it didn’t work for us compared to the opposite strategies we tested. It requires quite a bit of industrial quality scrubbing in hot water to create any realistic impression on the particles. We predict that some of the more traditional Dawn Day dish soaps will simply work, and you also won’t waste two perfectly good lemons in the meantime.Rating: 2/5
Technique 3: Bar Keepers Pal
style of the houseFavorable: These items work quickly and are cleaning products you should use on many different surfaces in your home. Made from oxalic acid, Bar Keepers Pal is as acidic as vinegar or lemon juice — but much stronger. How it works: Place your dirty pan under boiling water and drain. Then, wearing rubber gloves, make a paste by rubbing just a few tablespoons of Bar Keepers with the leftover water in your dirty pan. Spread the dough over the burnt parts of the pan and let it sit for 60 seconds. Don’t wait too long — these items mean business. After 60 seconds, rinse your pan completely with boiling water, then use a sponge, brush, or scouring pad to clean burnt foods. Repeat this process, if desired, for any disturbed spots. What happen: Bar Keepers is one of our all-time favorite cleaning items for the entire home. We had high expectations for this methodology and it worked. We were impressed by what we were able to take away after 60 seconds of quick soak and 10 minutes of scrubbing. The hardest spots can be completely removed with a quick-track utility and another 2-minute scrub with a scouring pad.Rating: 4/5
Technique 4: Aluminum foil + Baking Soda
style of the houseFavorable: Not only for covering up leftovers, aluminum foil can also be a reasonably effective cleaning software that seems to already be in your cupboard. How it works: Rinse your clay pot in boiling water and drain. Then sprinkle generously with 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Add a few teaspoons of boiling water again to the pan to make a paste with the baking soda, then start scrubbing with a piece of golf ball-sized shredded foil. Scrub until all burnt particles are peeled off, then rinse with hot soapy water for complete cleaning. What happen: This methodology has yielded pretty good results for us. While it was imperative to add a little baking soda after a quick scrub, we were impressed by how nicely the foil really removed dirt. Ultimately, this method resembles the “luxury” model of the baking soda + vinegar method we outlined earlier. It actually works simply but earlier and more successfully due to the addition of a foil layer to increase the scrubbing power.Rating: 4/5
Technique 5: Dishwashing tablets
style of the houseFavorable: In case you own a dishwasher, you probably already have a container for those things. How it works: Take a dishcloth out of your container and wash your dirty pan with boiling water. Then, start gently scrubbing the pan underneath the hot water with a dishcloth. Rub until all the particles come off, then rinse with hot water. What happen: We can’t see how nicely this methodology worked! In less than 5 minutes, we had a great transparent pan with no subsequent scrubbing with various strategies. We used End Powerball Deep Clear Tabs and determined it was best for removing the plastic coating on the tabs when scrubbing. The nice, warm water will gradually dissolve the plaque as you scrub and help the tablet keep its proper form rather than crumbling instantly between your fingers. The takeaway from this method is that we used two whole dishwasher tablets to wash a nasty pan. Therefore, this method can be expensive. However, it is so effective, we really feel it is well worth the cost. You can also use dishwasher tablets to clean the oven.Rating: 5/5
Summary of results
While all of those strategies are effective in getting rid of impurities in your pan, the dishwasher pellet has been the simple winner in our opinion. While we won’t vouch for different manufacturers of dishwasher tablets, we believe they can be equally effective at removing grease and burnt meals. Bar Keepers Pal and aluminum foil + baking soda — to use if you’re okay, give it a little extra time to get the job done, or want some extra elbow grease. Clear your mind with this experiment?
