why is my spotify so slow

Spotify is my favorite and most used service, even more so than TV and streaming services. Every day, I use Spotify whether I’m in the car, working in the office, cooking, doing housework, and anytime I want to have Spotify tunes on. No software or service is without its flaws and nuances, but there is one problem that I need to address. That problem is with the desktop app from Spotify. Completely uninstalling and reinstalling works for a short time, but eventually the app drops to poor performance levels. That tells me it’s not my machine but something with the app Read: why is my Spotify so slow Read more: why do I get pimples on my buttcheek | Top Q&AI searched for solutions and if others had similar problems and found maybe posts did but none of the good solutions worked. Until I came across a single post with complicated steps. I’ve looked through those and those work fine. The problem is related to the cache management of the Spotify app. Over time, the cache files will grow to a size that is beyond effective to a very large extent and thus it becomes harder for the computer to use them without consuming more memory and the processing becomes counterproductive. The solution was to delete the cache files and then set a configuration setting in the Spotify setup file to limit the cache size to not bloat. This post aims to simplify those steps for both MacOS and Windows.

  • Close Spotify if running. Open Searcher.
  • Under To go option menu select Go to folder. (ChangeCommand-WOOD)
  • Type or paste this ~/Library/Caches/com.spotify.client/
  • Click To go or press Enter on the keyboard.
  • In this folder you will see the Browser, Data, fsCachedData folder and other files. Delete all content. Command-A To select all, move to trash.
  • Come back Seeker. Same as Step 2 and 3 go to folder ~/Library/Application Support/Spotify/
  • In this folder look for a file named perfs.
  • Open perfs in a text editor.
  • Add bold text to the end of the file. This will limit the cache to 1024MN or 1GB. You can set this to whatever you want but this will limit the cache and not allow it to grow to an unlimited size. topqa.info = 1024
  • Save files.
  • Erase PersentlyCache folder.
