Tubefilter: Tell us a little about you! What did you do before YouTube?

Damien Prince: We are from Fort Wayne, In., but we currently live in Texas. Before YouTube, we had a completely different life. I (Damien) am the manager of a Little Caesars Pizza, and I met Biancca while I was training her as a new employee. We basically went from flipping pizza to doing this. We just posted a three-part documentary on YouTube about our lives. It was a crazy ride.

Tubefilter: What made you choose YouTube as your content platform? What particularly appeals to you about running a home channel?

DP: We were basically broken. We lived on paycheck to paycheck and barely made any money. I’m still working at the pizzeria. Biancca worked two jobs and was four months pregnant. We just needed a change and decided YouTube was the right move for us.

Tubefilter: You have five million subscribers, which is a substantial audience for a three-year-old new channel. Have you joined YouTube with a content strategy? How are you growing your audience?

DP: When I first started, it was in the gaming field. I just watch what other people are doing and then try it. I did a great job, but then we realized that there are other couples out there who are also successful and that pushed us to integrate into the family space.

DP: We think people like to feel connected to other families and to see how they live their lives. Our audience loves watching us because we keep it real. We are the same family, on and off camera. We are also not afraid to push the limits and take risks. We also think that our audience likes our chemistry and energy, and the fact that they can count on us to be consistent with our posting and have interesting, engaging content. .

Tubefilter: How do you keep your content fresh and stand out in such a crowded space?

Tubefilter: Have any other home creators inspired you?

DP: These days we are too busy with vlogs and parenting to see a lot of other content, but in the early days we were inspired by Jesse and Jeanne and Roman Atwood.

Tubefilter: What are the challenges of running a channel where your kids are the stars next to you?

DP: Negativity is the biggest challenge. It’s hard to get your kids out there and subject them to hateful comments and judgments.

Tubefilter: How do you balance your content production? Are there certain hours you film each day or do you just film when it feels like something vloggable is happening? Do you keep space for downtime?

DP: It changes every day. We usually shoot family vlogs in the morning and then shoot for our husband and wife channel at the end of the day. We have a family rule that doesn’t film after 6 p.m. or on weekends, so we can give the kids and each other our undivided attention.

Tubefilter: Is YouTube your full-time job? What else does the average day include?

DP: YouTube and social media are our full-time jobs. The rest of the day, we just do the usual things – go to the gym, shop, all that. It’s hard to do anything and stay anonymous, because we are recognized everywhere. Sometimes we really have to go out in pulled-up hoodies just to try and mix. We always try to be there for people who want to say hello or take pictures, but we also have to get work done, so sometimes that’s necessary.

Tubefilter: What are your plans for the future, for both your family and your channel?

DP: We’ve been too busy for the past few years to build our foundation and family so we haven’t had the chance to travel. None of us grew up doing that, so that’s what we wanted to do as a family and a couple this year.
