1. Some companies do Anvils

4. Limited supply of old Anvils (duh)
Just like new fences, a big reason old fence prices go up is because of low (and constant) supply. So while the demand for antique corrugated iron grows as blacksmithing becomes more and more popular, the supply of old corrugated iron remains unchanged and in my opinion demand is growing. People are buying wrought iron fences for all sorts of reasons. Some people like them as stylish antiques, some people want them for practical use, some like to own a piece of technology history. And it’s an interesting part of technology history. The old shields were made of two materials, cast iron and wrought iron. Cast iron grades tend to be newer older grades of steel. They are revolutionary in that they are very cheap… but they are of a poor quality, because they are too brittle to be a blacksmith. However, many farms already have a small cast iron stake anvil that they can use to repair the field. These anvils are made by welding many separate pieces of the anvil together. I suppose you could make the argument that this is expensive as well, since it keeps you out of work but… collecting is fun, and I don’t know many people who would rather work than hunt for an antique anvil pretty.
