The election of the competent director of 2002

In the 2002 gubernatorial election, Henry defeated former U.S. Republican Representative Steve Largent, an NFL Hall of Famer, by just over half a percent in a race that included independent candidate Gary Richardson, a retired Federal Prosecutor. Henry received 448,143 votes (43.27%) compared to Largent’s 441,277 votes (42.61%). Richardson, a former Democratic Party candidate, was the second most successful third-party leadership candidate nationally in that election, receiving 146,200 votes (14%).[4]Read more: Who was once married to Henry has run a limited campaign in rural areas “storming” and stopping at Wal-Mart stores in RVs with supporters. Henry was confirmed by Legendary Soccer Coach Barry Switzer, who is very popular in Bang Sooner and has accompanied Henry to many events of the campaign. He argued for increasing teacher salaries and funding higher education in the state by passing a state lottery to raise money. Henry’s candidacy received last minute support over Largent, due to the initiative to vote banning cockfighting, which was unpopular in rural areas. Henry has been neutral on the issue for most of the race as the proposed ban is popular in urban areas. Henry will secure support from pro-cockfighting forces in the countryside.

Acting Governor

Henry was officially sworn in as the 26th Governor of Oklahoma on January 13, 2003, with the oath of office administered by his cousin, federal appeals court judge Robert Harlan Henry. As Governor, he was a member of the National Governors Association, Southern Governors Association, and Democratic Governors Association. He is the current chairman of the State Council of Governments. Henry made national headlines by giving redistricting protections to Texas Democrats in that state’s legislature. by allowing them to travel across state lines to Oklahoma immediately to deny delegates voting for a redistricting plan. “Our position is, without a warrant signed by the judge, we have no authority. Even under those circumstances, we are hesitant to be drawn into a political battle in Texas. If we were going to fight Texas, we would prefer it to be on the football field,” Henry said through his spokesman.
