Over the weekend, Netflix finally gave us El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. The film follows Jesse Pinkman in the years following the series’ finale and contains flashbacks to Breaking Bad’s time. The movie is the end for the characters we all need and deserve. But we’ve been waiting for it for six years, so the ending can be a bit confusing. El Camino ended explaining:
At the end of Breaking Bad, Jesse Pinkman will go to Alaska to start his new life as Mr Driscoll. Jesse finally had enough money to pay Ed Galbraith to smuggle him there so he could have a fresh start. Jesse gets in the back of a truck, to a car to start his new beginning. Jesse and Ed go into the details of Jesse’s new identity. “Good luck, Mr. Driscoll,” Ed said as they parted. Who is Brock Cantillo?
Brock is the son of Andrea Cantillo, Jesse’s ex-girlfriend, whom he met at an Anonymous drug meeting. Andrea was killed at the end of season 5 because of her relationship with Jesse.Jesse was close to Brock while he was with Andrea and Walter White later poisoned Brock with poisonous berries. This resulted in Brock being hospitalized, but he later recovered. Walt does it because he wants Jesse to believe that Gus poisoned Brock with ricin (in the cigarette) so that Jesse can turn against Gus. So even though their suffering wasn’t directly due to Jesse’s fault, he still felt guilty about it. Jesse is made to watch from a nearby vehicle when Andrea is shot on her doorstep.

This photo appears throughout El Camino as a constant reminder of Andrea’s senseless death and the pain Brock went through. In a flashback, we see that Jesse was once temporarily freed by Todd to help him escape a corpse. Although there was a clear chance to win his freedom, Jesse didn’t because Todd gave him a very specific warning. He said: “If you try to, you know, escape, I will have to visit the boy. It would basically be out of my hands at that point. Uncle Jack promised you that, and he’s going to want to do it. So good behavior, right? The boy is Brock.
