On Religion: How could God love me?
Video Why God Loves Us“I pray that you… may with all the saints have the power to grasp how wide and long the love of Christ, how high and deep.” — Ephesians 3:17-18Two weeks ago, my oldest daughter, Kayla, graduated from high school. Because of COVID, her graduation was delayed by a month and a half. But my wife, Christine, and I were so proud to finally see her in a cap and gown, and receive her diploma. I want to pass the scriptures on to her and use them to pray for her. Beginning halfway through verse 17, it reads: “I pray that you, rooted and established in love, may have the power, along with all the saints, to grasp the love of How wide and long is Christ, how high and deep is Christ, and Know this love beyond understanding — so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. “This is one of my prayers for Kayla. I want her to be firmly rooted in the love of God, and I want her to understand how wide, long, high, and deep the love of Christ is. But I didn’t want her to simply “grasp” God’s great love; I want her to know of His love. get eternal life. “During my years in the ministry, I have had many conversations with people who believe that God loves the world very much. But they are not sure that God loves them. At other times, we doubt his love because our sins seem too great to be forgiven. And honestly, we sometimes have a hard time getting around the notion that the creator of this massive universe would care about us. asked himself, “How can the creator of the universe love me?” Honestly, it’s completely illogical for the creator of the universe to love you. After all, you are not a big, important person. Your influence in this world is quite small. Your natural resources are few and far between. And, like the children of Israel, you are stubborn – you have your fair share of hateful grumbling and complaints. So how can God love me? How does God love you? Here’s the answer: God loves you, not because of who you are or what you’ve done. God loves you for who he is. When we doubt God’s love for us, it’s certainly because we’re taking our eyes off Him and focusing on ourselves – our insecurities, shortcomings, sins, and mediocrity. God’s love for me has never been primarily for me. It was always mainly about him. 1 John 4:8 says blankly: “God is love.” And because God is love, he will love me no matter how obnoxious, unlovable, and honorable I may be to his love. How can God love us? Because God is love, and loving ungodly sinners like you and me is what He does best. God’s love transcends even life and death. That’s great news for you and me because, according to God’s word, our sins have cost us all to die with God. Ephesians 2:1-3 says, “You died in your transgressions and sins, where you used to live when you were alive. way of this world… satisfying the desires of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. ”Read more: why cats bite nails | Top Q & AColossians 2:13 says, “When you died in your sins and in your sinful nature uncircumcised, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave all of our sins. “So there’s no doubt about it. Our rebellious sins have caused us to be spiritually dead to God. But Jesus is ready and willing to bring us back to life. Because despite us, God loves us. In spite of ourselves, Jesus loves us. Romans 5:8 tells us, “But God demonstrates His own love for us: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” What a glorious sentence! While we are still selfish, Jesus loves us and died for us. While we still break God’s laws and do whatever we want to do; while we are unruly, stubborn, complaining and arguing; while we are completely disrespected, unappreciated, and unlovable – Jesus loved us anyway and died for us. of God! “My prayer for my daughter is also one of my prayers for you. I want you to be firmly rooted in the love of God, and I want you to understand how wide, long, high, and deep the love of Christ is. But I don’t want you to simply “grasp” God’s great love; I want you to know His love personally – “that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”Dane Davis is Pastor of Impact Christian Church.
