sims 4 how to recolor hair

I’ve received a few requests to do a tutorial on how I do my collections, so here you go!! Also, here’s what I do when repainting, you don’t have to do the same thing, everyone has a preference! Read: simulate 4 ways to re-color your hairAnd be prepared!! This is a VERY detailed tutorial!! If you have any questions about the tutorial, or if there’s anything you don’t understand, please dm me! ????Press continue reading for instructions! ???? etc Read more: How to change tips on doordash You will need:

  • Photoshop of any kind (you can get CS2 for free here!)
  • Sims 4 Studio (S4S) (subscription required to download)
  • A DDS plugin for PS! (it’s called texture tool)
  • @wildlyminiaturesandwich’s WMS reenactment!
  • WMS thumb swatches! (same link ^)

Before changing colors, you should read WMS’s post about her collection! There is a lot of information that you will need to use in this guide!!! 1. Install S4S, PS and DDS plugin! 2. Find any hair color you want to dye back and download it!

  • Make sure to put the downloaded file in the mods folder in S4S!! You can find this in docs > sims 4 studio > mods
  • 3. Open S4S and create your color file!

  • Go to the cas section and select “Add CAS Section Templates”, it is very important that you select that, otherwise the templates will not be part of the original mesh and you will create a standalone file!
  • Then click on ‘CAS’, and it will take you to a page with all the stuff that EA created, including the cc files you included in the mods folder!
  • In the top right corner you can filter the files to show only the mods/cc you have included!
  • Find the hairstyle you want to dye back and ‘shift + click’ on the file and press next in the bottom right corner!
  • A new window will pop up and this is where you will save your file! To start, I create a folder with the grid artists url, then the hair name, and in that folder I create a folder for each palette!
  • Then I create the file and name it after the palette I started with!

  • First find the ‘white EA’ swatch and export the texture (make sure it’s a .dds file!!!!)!
  • Now delete all other patterns, so that only one is left! It doesn’t have to be a specific swatch, it’s important that you export the white texture before removing the swatches
  • Now go to ‘warehouse’ in top left corner and click ‘CAS PART’ (there should be only one)
  • Go to the search bar on the right and type ‘sec’ and “SecondaryDisplayIndex” will pop up!
  • Click on the number and write 200 (unnatural), 400 (natural) or 600 (neutral) depending on the palette you are using! This will ensure your recordings will always be in order and won’t interfere with each other! I highly recommend reading @neverloore’s post about it right here!!
  • Now that you’ve exported the texture and done the SecondaryDisplayIndex, we can move on to recoloring!
  • Picture5. Open Photoshop and start coloring again!

  • Open PS and open your EA white background texture!
  • Go to the action tab on your right, click the little arrow in the top right corner, then ‘Load Action’! Find WMS actions and load them!
  • Now go to the palette/folder (in the action menu) you want to recolor and click the arrow! Now a series of actions will appear and here are all the individual colors for the palette!
  • Click the first action and then the little down arrow at the bottom of the action window! Your file is now recolored!
  • Save the texture by pressing ‘ctrl + shift + s’ I found that this is the fastest way to do it!! You can do it manually by going to ‘file > save as’ in the top bar menu!
  • A new window will pop up! Find the folder we created in the beginning and go to the folder with the color scheme you chose and enter 1 (or whatever number you got it)! I provide all the sample numbers in the colors of the palette, it will be easier to get it this way once we start bringing the samples into S4S! Hit save !!
  • Now the NVIDIA DDS plugin will pop up and you want the top order to be “DXT5 ARGB 8 BPP / interpolated alpha”! Click save and do this with all the other templates you want to create! (Remember to go back in history and start with the base coat before doing another repaint)

Picture6. Put the colored files back into S4S!

  • Go back to S4S and import new recallers! (a time)
  • Once you have imported all the collections, go to the template thumbnails and import the WMS template thumbnails!
  • Right click + on the existing template (the one with the cross below) and then click on the template thumbnail we just imported! It will now change to the same color as the one in the imported thumbnail! Do this with all your templates!!
  • Picture7. Now you’re done! Just remember to save and rename your file!! 8. If you are going to recolor with more than one of the palettes, I recommend creating individual files for each palette (1, 2 or 3 files recommended) and when you’re done you can merge them all all files/packages together into one!

  • Go to tools in the top bar, then merge packages!
  • Add your collections and then merge them all together, to create a new bundle with all the files included!
  • PictureHope you enjoyed the tutorial!! It looks quite complicated when you first look at it, but it is quite easy once you get the hang of it!! Once you get into the ‘rhythm’ of tinting, you can do it very quickly – it took me about 40 minutes. to re-dye one hair color with all three palettes! ????Read more: Want to wax your vulva?
