However, what is really hot in the plastic craft industry right now, is disturbing. The recliner allows you a lot of room for creativity. There are many designs and techniques to choose from. Chrissy uses DIY Counter Culture Epoxy Quick Kit and Artist resin to create this amazing glitter design. Chrissy uses a coat of black spray paint, followed by a layer of white. She then returns with acetone and alcohol to clean the edges and complete the taboo effect. Chrissy blends her edges and leaves some of the black left to create a burnt paper feel for the flipper. This effect looks amazing and gives off some spooky vibes. However, if you like clean edges on your projects, you can always use duct tape to give yourself clean lines. It’s a wonderful part of art, we can all learn the same technique but when we are creative, it becomes completely our own! The lettering on this mug was designed in Cricut Design Space and it really helps to create the cup. However, if you don’t have access to a Critcut cutter, you can still have fun with this technique! The glitter color you choose can still speak for Halloween, and you can always add some other areas where the glitter goes through instead of using the letters. Letter supply list (optional)

  • Cricut cutter and Cricut Design Space (or similar cutter)
  • Vinyl transfer paper
  • Weeding tools
  • Contact sheet
  • Small rubber broom
  • Scissors

Step by step instructions

  • First, make sure your cup is clean and dry, then paint it with purple spray paint. Let the paint dry before continuing.
  • Mix Artist resin in a 1:1 ratio according to the instructions on the container. Mix well for 3 minutes while scraping the sides of the mixing bowl and stirrer. Apply a layer of turpentine over the entire basement.
  • Next, Sprinkle glitter over the entire terrarium (except the bottom). If you have a menstrual cup rotator, placing your cup on it will make it much easier to get an even shimmer finish.
  • Take the wax paper and, with the shiny side down, use it to gently press the glitter into place. Clean the rim and any large pieces of glitter that are sticking out. Let this layer dry a bit before continuing.
  • Next, mix DIY Counter Culture Epoxy Quick Kit in a 1:1 ratio according to the instructions on the container. Mix well for 3 minutes while scraping the sides of the mixing bowl and stirrer. Apply a layer of turpentine over the entire attic. Lets set this class.
  • Now, shake the black spray paint well and apply it to half of the tortoise in a short time. Wait for it to dry.
  • Repeat with white paint right on top of black.
  • Next, use acetone and a clean rag to wipe away excess paint from the back and sides. At the same time remove the paint on the edge of the cup.
  • Continue using acetone to clean and blend the edges. Use a second rag soaked in alcohol to remove the acetone residue. Repeat this process, back and forth between the acetone and the alcohol, until you have defined the top, bottom, and sides of the paint area.
  • Next, take an acetone rag and place it on your index finger. Start at the bottom edge of the paint area and push up to stretch the edge. Work your way around the entire painted area adding as much or as little distress as you like.
  • Now, select a few spots on the inside of the painted area to crash. (This step is optional)
  • Return the entire cup with the alcohol to ensure that all acetone residue has been removed. If left over, it may form streaks and mists after the resin is applied.
  • Use your cutter to print text if using. (Watch the video for instructions on how to do this as well as tips on gluing the lettering!) Let the cup rest for an hour for the vinyl to adhere.
  • Next, apply a layer Access Culture DIY Epoxy Quick Kit for the entire tum floor and enable setting.
  • If necessary, sand lightly to remove any sharp or rough tinsel points. Wash with soap and water to remove and sand the residue then rub gently with alcohol.
  • Finally, apply a final layer of Artist resin and let it cure for 24 hours. In one day you’ll have yourself a great Halloween tumbler!
