to boldly go where no man has gone before

I recently had the opportunity to write an article for the Association of Insurers’ Long-Term Care Coverage newsletter. Why am I interested in long-term care insurance? Because insurance companies and their policyholders are stakeholders who stand to benefit from updating homes. The article explains the value updated homes bring to long-term care insurers and policyholders and identifies partners who are also interested. I also attended the annual Intercompany Long Term Care Insurance Conference this winter. Long Term Care Insurance is a whole new industry for me. I talked about a few things worth thinking about and learned a lot. I’ve met really nice people who really care about the long-term care needs of older Americans. All the other stakeholders I know – from remodeling, technology, home care, various parts of the healthcare process, to transportation, etc – are dedicated and passionate about the work. their jobs are the same. Everyone really goes through the hardships of a good old age, with dignity and limited resources. And they want to make it better.Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Enterprise ship. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds. In search of new life and new civilization. Go boldly to places no one has gone before! This phrase, with an update, is already familiar to many. Star Trek captures our imaginations and many hours of our lives. But it’s not just about the final frontier. It’s about any border. It captured our imaginations because the crew was willing to step out of their comfort zone.Read more: Warframe Alloy Plate Farm 2021 | Top Q&AWhy are we afraid to step up and ‘boldly’ make things better?Perhaps because I am a carpenter, I expect tangible results from my work. It’s not just about the idea, the design, the licensing, or the financing. It’s also about ‘boldly’ stepping on a pile of lumber, measuring boards, cutting and nailing to assemble something that wasn’t there before. You’re probably thinking: How did he get from the long-term care industry news to Star Trek and carpentry? Two things inspired this post: 1. I’m currently on two “workgroups” to promote home modifications. I’ve known several other pros over the years, others always welcoming new players. Both workgroups set their ‘goals’ before I was invited to join. These goals are increasing data and making people aware. These goals are ‘chop and hammer’ in short – the tangible, practical goals of changing the house.2. I read an excellent article, just released, about a new way to fund and manage long-term care insurance for many Americans. There is no question of need. Many of us will suffer serious health problems that will drain us financially and rob us of the conditions for us and our families to take charge of our lives as we age. Go. But planning stops at things that should also be part of the goal – suggestions or incentives to avoid disaster. Successful goal attainment does not solve the problem if the goal does not include the solution.3rd and goalA recent example of bold goal setting is the partnership between Amazon, JP Morgan Chase, and Berkshire Hathaway to fix healthcare. The goal is not to find cheaper insurance or save money by insuring yourself. Or even create an insurance company from which they can profit. They have a plan to fix the problem. This partnership has the usual players and media for a short period of time. Will the partnership disrupt healthcare as we know it? Well, that’s great. This is a bold move. Identify the problem and set a goal to solve it. Do not educate about modifications. No waiting for disaster to act. Change housing when it can make a difference.
